Hello,
I have a general question about valve blocks..I have the Morpower block which is very well made (imo), rotary type it worked fine when I first got it...now I am having problems with the center port..the servo turns the valve rotates but the cylinder wont move?..I switched ports cylinder is fine so I am at a loss...I took it apart and nothing unusual, the center valve does seem to leak with the pump on..ugh..anyone have any thoughts? I did email Morpower just waiting for a response.. Thanks |

If you look on the back of the valve there is a flow adjustment. It is a screw that you turn in and out. Ed

Thanks Ed, I tried adjusting, still no luck so I took the whole block apart...will post some pics ..I tried blowing out the holes with a needle tip and there was some tiny pieces of aluminum, which I suspect came from the pump break in..not sure but I hope this is the problem, I did read Joe's thread one point he mentions even the smallest specs of dirt can cause problems...I will have to reassemble now for another test...fingers crossed...welcome to any other input...
Thanks.. |

so far mine is ok. did you nick one of the O-rings?
rob HAD one in his kat but replaced it with a magom v/b http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...ead.php?t=8237 Last edited by bigford; 04-12-2016 at 08:33 PM. |

Hey Bigford thanks for the link..so you have a triple morpower block?. there is not allot of mechanics, the valve is pretty simple..I can't figure out why the oil is coming out both lines as soon as I turn the pump on...I didn't nic the rings...even when I turn the screw on the bottom tight for no flow I am still getting oil out both lines..?? Albeit less but should be 0! I tested the 3rd port and with the valve centered in neutral there is no flow...which when rotating the valve works as supposed too, same as on number 1 port...I am perplexed? I emailed morpower again...

If I was you I would replace all the O rings in the valve there is something leaking by. I have 2 of these valves but never used them yet. Maybe the O rings are the wrong material for oil use, the O rings could be the wrong size and letting oil go buy also the oil your using could be eating up or softening up the O rings. There are to many variables with out seeing the valve. Let me ask you this did the valve ever work right or was it likeb this from the start?? Ed

each valve is lapped or matched to its hole. |

gauthib12 If you are using regular motor oil for your hydraulics that is a no no oils have special additives for special uses. I use Cat oil and have no problem with my hydraulics and it sets for long time with no problem. As for you problem if it worked when you got it why would you take it apart. Ed

Thanks Ed, I researched different oils and read that 10w was light and that it is also used as a hydraulic substitute, never considered additives and such...what Cat oil do you use? Weight?....the valve seemed to work but not well and being the over inquisitive sort I took it apart...maaaybe it was defective from the start...I can say that both outer valves fit the hole close, the center seems to have wiggle room no matter which valve is fitted...I don't know... Must be the valve fit and the oil is just flooding in the area and exiting both ports...nonetheless frustrating !!

I have heard of guys using ATF. I just use ISO 46 and it works fine. Jack oil might work too or power steering fluid.
