I know I am new and this is probably a extreme novice question...but here it goes anyway... The hobbico cutting matts...it would seem that everyone has one.... Does it work that well or is it used for referencing etc????? Do you truely do all your cutting on it????

They are a nice mat, they work for referencing but mainly because if u cut into it with an x-acto it "heals" right back up. Basically the cut closes up and doesn't cause your knife to be drug back into the same groove. So you could cut right over the same area again without issue.
Their also nice because they help keep parts from sliding around while working on them compared to a countertop or bench top and don't scratch up parts either. -Dan
