Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
Did you see the link that RCLogger posted on his thread as to where he sourced his K1 chain?

Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
I am with you, I would love for someone to give up the secret on the best source for the #35 chain with the K-1 attachment on every outer link.
I did some searching a while back myself and found it pretty difficult to find. As RC Logger recommended I contacted Viking Industries, but they were not interested in talking to me because I was not a corporation. They told me to go through a distributor like Motion Industries or Applied. Last year the local Motion Industries office priced the #35 K1 chain to me at $48 per foot, but minimum they would sell was 10 feet. I was not willing to shell out $500 for chain. When I contacted Viking, I was talking with the distributor in Georgia that covered my region. It may be different with the distributor in Canada. I also found this on Amazon, but you cannot use #35 sprockets with it because the roller diameter is larger than a #35 chain. They also dont tell you what length you are getting for that price. http://www.amazon.com/Roller-chain-a...A28EG6DQRVDN3A Have you looked at some of the german websites? For the prices I was getting on the chain you could buy actual dozer tracks for about the same amount, and the tracks were much more scale looking. Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
So after my post the other day I decided to look into this a bit more. I contacted Vikings NW office in Washington state and they put me through to the head office in British Columbia (1 800-324-1244). They quoted me a price of $7.50 per foot with a minimum 10' order. After shipping the total cost is $131.00. I should have it in a couple of days.
So here I am, Giving up the secret. Now I just have to do something with the chain. |

Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
Anyone order any of this chain recently? I have some coming and it is NOT cheap. I think it is going to work out to about $40/foot. I don't know how much is am going to use yet, so if your looking and find it cheaper than mine let me know. I may have some left over for sale to try and recover a bit of my budget.

Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
OUCH! Where did you get it from? I bought a couple boxes from Viking Chains in Vancouver BC for less than 1/4 of that before shipping. I had called them before though and been quoted $25 per foot and another place at $35 per foot. That's why I always welded the nuts onto regular chain up until recently.

Re: #35 Roller Chain With K1 Attachment
Reg,
I went thru motion industries. They have a office nearby that makes it easy, but not cheap. I will probably keep enough to make a dozer and a crawler for my dragline and sell the rest at a loss, just to recover a little from the ten foot min. Jim |
