Default Half-round Dump Box

I have been wanting to try and build one of these for a while but hadn't really found the time so when a customer asked if I would be interesting in doing one I was excited. I put the order on the to do list and it's time has come up.

This will be going on an extended chassis with a drop axle.

Here's what I have so far...

I put in a false floor so that the screwdrive is hidden a little more. I didn't just want to leave a hump in the middle of the box floor so double walling the bottom was the only option.

I still have a ton of work to do but what do you guys think?

Reg

Thanks a lot guys. I think something similar to this will go on my "options" list. I don't believe anyone else is offering this type of box but I could be wrong?

That gives me a inspiration as was contemplating the build of a Half Pipe frameless dump trailer. I just ordered a really nice ScaleArt Multi-stage ram that would work perfectly for a build like that!!

That's the only body style that I use on my 1:1 Mack! I don't like sqaure box's anymore.

Look great so far Reg!
Cheers, Neil.

Do you feel that the tub is more top heavy than the square box... I remember pulling a rock box and man was it up a lot higher than the hilbilt I had been pulling...

Reg...this is the first tub I have seen...looking good so far...how long will it scale out to be?

No it's not bad , some operators can't seem to put enough on.
I haul a lot of demolition, so I like not having corners to hang up on.
High lift tailgate is super too!
Cheers, Neil.

Thanks very much. I have a few out there floating around now! Most of them have gone to people for projects that don't have build threads....you know who you are people...

Thanks Neil. I'm starting to notice more of this type around here on the 1:1 stuff. Seems like most of them are like my original design or else have rounded bottoms with straight sides though.

This one measures 17" from the front bulkhead to the spill plate. Does that work out to just under 20'?

Here's a bit of an update on this one. All the new pieces are just sitting in place while I wait for some feedback from the owner.

Thanks for looking!

Those are great links Neil. I may try one of those beds the next time I make something for "stock".

I welded up the ladder this afternoon... I cheated and used mild steel. Soooo much easier! I have made ladders out of aluminum welding rod before...that's why I made a special trip to buy 1/8 steel!lol

Thanks for looking.

Small update on the half round... I'm almost finished with the welding on this one but ran out of gas today just before I finished.
