That is Brilliant I really admire your work and skill set

I was feeling really good about the build on my bench of the Carson/Tamiya alloy dropdeck now it is Just sad in comparison to yours

Best I get to the shed and start being inventive and learn more

Great job again RC. Hate to rain on your parade but all single axle dolly converters have a fixed tongue. Having a setup like yours will brake the fifth wheel off, quicker that you can blink an eye! Just trying to help.
Cheers Rob.

yeah, I would have to say that any converters I have seen, all have the 5th wheels in a fixed mount, as opposed to a slider setup. BUT, you did mention this to the customer, so he can deal with the WTF questions when people see it. and yeah, the thing looks VERY good, BTW.

Sorry to sound dumb but that exactly is the point of the dolly? I don't understand why you would need a jolly when the truck fifth wheel hitch is right there..

Having a dolly makes pulling a trailer possible without a truck that has a fifth wheel. he's just showing you the work he did.

In a case like this usually there won't be enough weight on the fifth wheel for good traction so the dolly will be hooked to the trailer and then to a tractor fitted with a weight box on the fifth wheel and loaded down for as much traction as possible. Also depending on load size and weight restrictions you will need a certain number of axles/wheels and tires to distribute the load out.

How much weight is needed on the fifth wheel? I guess I can understand the number of axles but I'm uneducated on how a piece of equipment weighing at least five tons wouldn't be enough for a trailer of this size. Sorry again
