Re: RCP Compound
I just watched those videos last night. I've spent the last two days from daylight to dark running the 1:1 scale 215 cat excavator and a couple tandem axle ford dump trucks, moved about 900 cubic yards of dirt from the side of my pond. I'm building a stone wall on the edge and then my new house.
On the Bruder tracks: what's causing the bind, or is it just a matter of overcoming the dirt with more HP? |

Re: RCP Compound
Sounds like you have your hands full but also space for a big park of your own down the road. The tracks hang up for a number of reasons. Sometimes a large rock(large match head size) gets stuck between the pads. This causes a hump in the chain and the grouser hits the body. Other times it is the same size rock jammed in the chain. The tracks don't have tensioners so occasionally they get too tight because of this or just a lot of wet sand packed in the rollers. It's a bit of a pain sometimes but it's a tiny little toy and I forgive it.

Re: RCP Compound
Yup, at first run I loaded the tracks up with dirt and was thinking oh great all this time building and first turn it clogged up!! Just like the 1:1 machines, try to avoid sharp turns that will have dirt flow over chain of the track. On 1:1 machines dirt isn't usually a problem but whoever is the owner of the equipment will let you know if you keep using the track and sprocket as a rock crusher!! Once I "learned" the limitations of my 1:14 dozer , I haven't had many problems. Only time I clogg up the tracks is when driving over a pile of loose material and turning or being on a slope and it slides allowing material to get packed into track chain.

Re: RCP Compound
I enjoy you videos, I will need to get some controls added to some of my grandsons toys for a start up. I'm sure that would be faster than scratch building and get me familiar with the electronics. I'll look for your Mack thread and see how to tackle that.

Re: RCP Compound
RCP-after looking at the picture you posted on mikems page, I think it would be nice for you to do a video using the lake with your construction equipment. Maybe a video loading a barge with the excavator or front loader. I like anything on the water.

Re: RCP Compound
I had some company today in the form of chaseracer! We had a good BS and moved a bit of dirt in the process using as much equipment as we could. It was a great day for sure! Thanks for coming out for the afternoon Jason. Too bad Lou didn't make it down...(dig, dig).
Here are the pictures I took and there are a bunch of videos uploading. More interesting to watch when more than one thing is happening at a time. We need more operators and equipment at this site! |

Re: RCP Compound
My wife decided to come and haul some dirt this evening while I was hauling logs. I quickly traded in my 1/10 scale logging truck for my King and excavator so that I could join her. We almost have this section of road completed. Joe, you will be happy to know that all but the chunk of wood and a couple of big rocks for support have been hauled into the ravine using RC only.

Re: RCP Compound
Thanks Joe! This area has been easy to use just the RC's on. The only drawback is that the sifted material won't pack when dry. I need a layer of something else to put on there because the material is at least 6" deep in spots. Either that or a sprinkler system to keep it wet.
