Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
I don't know about the m5 or m3 this is my first hydraulic model so haven't a clue which is best.
Radio at first planned to use a turnigy 9x (with updated firmware) as I have one and provided 8 channels with some nifty mixing channels etc. Then bought a turnigy 9xr pro cheap off eBay basically basically same but few more bells and whistles but same 8 channels to control. Quality of the magom. It looks like it's a nice engineered and built piece of kit, however I have found bits have come loose even before use so had to start removing bolts and grub screws to add lock tight. And at moment no instructions so got to make it up as I go along. I will know more when I get it running. |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
No painting at moment, need to wet and dry boom & bucket before moving onto clear coating it all.
So on with the internals First plumbed up the pump to the valve block and figured the correct direction for the pump to ESC connectors On with securing the electronics Easy access to the battery. Not going to bother with a switch so need access to disconnect battery |

Can you give me some information on that electronic board shown in one of the pictures.

http://rctankelectronics.weebly.com/products.html I use them in my tanks and are great boards so decided to use in the excavator to control the tracks, slew motor, lights, sounds and exhaust smoke unit. It also has customable sounds so I can make it sound however I want. |

More painting :TU
Attached boom to main body Masked off and some clear coat added to the orange Whilst waiting between coats I cracked on with the headlights. Next tidy up the wiring inside Volume control secured |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
Very nice! And very impressive. Im a fan of Magomhrc. Very impressed with how far they've come in the last 3 yrs. must be doing something right because they're growing and getting more serious for sure!

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
Thanks for the kind remarks.
Question on the hydraulics. Since the resivor tank is small how do I fill up the system with out running pump dry? Any comments on add oil and getting air out welcome total newbie with this stuff. Cheers |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
These are the steps for the Fumotec Komatsu 490LC. Should be similar. After each movement of the pushrods in the cylinder I would top up the oil if the tank is really that small. I was surprised at the total amount of oil needed.
First steps for hydraulics commissioning: -Mount all nipples using liquid gasket -Disconnect the cylinder pushrods from the Excavator arms, so there is no load on the cylinders. -Looking from the front of the excavator, make sure that the hydraulic pump runs in a clockwisedirection. -Open (anti-clockwise) the ‘max’ pressure valve (the little brass valve) 2 or 3 turns -Start the hydraulic pump with about 15-20% rpm -Close the ‘max’ pressure valve slowly until you reach 10-15 bar on the pressure gauge. -Now open the first valve a small amount in each directions, this should release the sealing rings in the cylinders (in case the cylinders have been stationary for a period of time). You should see the cylinders moving in each direction. -Once the cylinders are free to move then operate the valve to move the cylinder to its end position. Now operate the valve to move the cylinder to the opposite end of its travel, you may hear air bubbles returning to the oil tank. -Move the cylinder 5-10 times from one end position to the other until there is no air bubbles returning to the oil tank (you should see the air bubbles in the yellow tubes) -Repeat this procedure for all other cylinders -Once all the air has been eliminated from the system you can reconnect the cylinder pushrods to their mounting points. Increase the pressure in the hydraulic system to 20 bar and you should be ready to move the excavator arms.

Congradulations on getting her running.
Sounds like the pump is cavitating every now and then? Still got some air perhaps? |

Yeah I think still some air in system so will try work it out of the system.

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
Update. Started on the main body.
Decided to add a fuel inlet which will actually be the smoke unit filler tube And primer Mean while had a little play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHRkF2FxnN0 Then disaster :BH One of the track drive sprockets came loose so a strip down to get to tighten up the grub screw :AR |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
I have the same pump as you. Question....looking at the way you have it plumbed in on page 3, have you blown any lines or have you adjust the pressure? Also, is the pressure adjust screw that big brass screw on the bottom of the tank?
Thanks

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
It's a practical thing with such a small hydraulics tank, and I'm sure there is just enough oil in it in order to make the machine run smoothless, but what about heat development..? E.g Premacon use a pretty large tank, and much extra oil in the system, as a simple way of cooling.
Looking forward to hear how these valves and pump unit performs after some hours of running. I see no filter? The pump itself is well known to perform great, but I'm most curios about the valves, how leak-proof they will be. They are quite much cheaper than e.g. Premacon, naturally, and I might want to test them in my own machines in the future. |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
Hi guys,
Sorry for lack of posting been busy. Not had too much run time but so far haven't blown any lines off and I only hand tightened the nipples. No leaks as yet but not had much use on any demanding ground. Painting nearly done, just clear coat left to do and transfer to be made and added. Got some pictures so will upload when on my computer. |

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
I've read very mixed things about their new line of hydros (the old one I wont comment on, we all know the deal). Can you let us know what happens after say 100 hours of runtime?

Re: Metal Excavator - Magom HRC MG1.4
Not a big update, but more painting so here’s some picture of progress.
Piping for exhaust smoke unit going in. Speaker fitted Broken track link I’ve created some decals which I be adding next, well after a bit of practice first. |
