Default 1/12 rcbrmin excavator

Found this guy the other day, 1/12 as a kit for only 900 includes hydros turn motor and track motors.
Not much is listed for info on the site but from the pics it looks to be fairly sturdy. I've managed to find two videos of it thus far.

Also known as the 'KAT', first version came a couple of years ago. It's advisable to be a above average skilled mechanic, or have access to one, in other to keep this thing running and moving dirt.

Yep...) With skills, tools, free time and additional $$$ all is possible, but if one are most keen on getting dirt moved, in general one likely will feel happier without owning a cheap Chinese model excavator, than owning it) With that being said, I have the first version myself, I'm not familiar in detail with this last upgraded version.

Sadly I think there's two options the 4200xl and magoms full metal kit. Of which is go with the 4200. Otherwise it seems the option is to build it yourself, which is a pain

if you can buy the kat at a low enough cost to make replacement of the cheap
hydro and electric affordable. then its fine for entry level cxcavator. $900. for the
tracks and car body if great I pain $1800.. and the had to gut the cheap crap.
there wasn't $900. worth of anything I removed

Ok here's my 2 cents. Get the china Kat.
Why? I have followed several threads on the 4200xl and I must say most are happy with it, but almost all upgrade the pump, valve block, drive motors and etc. there are many who has not changed a thing and its still kicking.
For a lesser price you can get the china Kat and you will find that you will change the same stuff as the more expensive 4200xl. The parts you remove from the china cat can be resold as long as there not broken, it will supplement the cost of upgrades.
The major differences that I've gathered is with the 4200xl you'll be having fun for some time before you brake something or just want better stuff in your machine.
eventually you will change the same stuff in the china Kat anyway.
But if you want to do less mechanical work 4200xl is your machine.

This is a modified KAT. It looks so close to the 1:1 komatsu pc600

One of the nicer looking excavators imo.

They offer kit version, so you can buy better hydro from the start.

Seems to have good hydraulic power and speed from the video. What is the load capacity or max digging depth?

Why don't we start an open build and make it kind of community project?

I'm sure that there are quite few CAD capable engineers who can give inputs and contribute in getting the design files right.
We can then share the load and get the build started.

I can arrange laser cut sheet metal at good price once we get the files.
