My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
Im new to this forum and just sharing a couple projects I have done. I am new to this side of the RC world "construction stuff" but got addicted pretty fast after I completed the skid loader and playing with that in the sand box with the kiddo's. Now I have a bulldozer, and a Excavator I converted with Magom hydraulics and I love that thing! Soon I will have a dump truck. but until then here are some pics of the skid loader and bulldozer conversion I completed. Both are fully functional and work great I drive them all the time!
Lots of pictures in this post I will warn ya! Feel free to ask any questions or comment about anything. Thanks for looking |

Nice conversions. I've got a loader myself, been in pieces for more than a year...

Nicely done mate, very tidy.
Your dozer, what did you use for the extensions on the track plates? |

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
I made those on my 3d printer, but they are very simple plastic strips just super glued into place. You could duplicate it simply by cutting or buying strips of plastic. Helps ALOT with traction but on carpet they grip almost too well and can bind it up. I've broken a transmission already with it and now I have a pair of transmissions that have a built in fail safe "torque limiter" built into them so hopefully that will save them. Works great on surfaces its designed for, light dirt and sand

I will say I am not 100% sold on the pololu dozer gear boxes yet, the axle is plastic and only protrudes about 1/4" from the side of the dozer after its mounted, but I have about 20 battery packs thru my dozer and all I have had to do is tighten the tracks so they are working so far, maybe it will be ok. |

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
Hi Jeff I just checked back into this forum and got your message. I will look into my files here and send you some. the Servo mount for the bucket took a few iterations to get right but it does work very well. I will get you some more info, sorry about the delay I have been busy lately with new business ventures.

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
What are you guys using for transmissions? These wheels fit these transmissions and are the wrong size hole for a tamiya transmission, I might be able to make some adjustments tho let me know what your looking for.

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
I am mounting on servos. I will cut to size with my dremel. I notice the teeth are longer as well? If so, that's awesome as that is the problem that i am running into. Thanks!

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
Mine is still on Tamiya, but I will switch it for something stronger, since I keep on frying the motors
Thanks |

Re: My Bruder conversions, Tracked skid loader and Bulldozer.
Well the motors in these gear boxes are the same size as the tamiya gear box so I wouldnt consider that a upgrade. The output shaft has 2 flats on them so that is the shape I made in the wheel. I was thinking about changing to a tamiya gear box actually since these gearboxes have a short output shaft similar to a servo and when running a track they get alot of side load and deflect. Where running the tamiya box would give you a longer steel shaft and seems like it would hold up better.
I will say I have broken teeth off on both styles of gear box so the strength is about the same, fairly weak! I try to stick to sandboxes and tilled up dirt in the garden so they dont get real good traction. So with that being said I will work on another version of the dozer drive wheels and let you guys know when I get it figured out, RCBruder do you have a measurement for the wheels you want, Id assume you want to bolt a round servo horn straight to the wheel so give me a measurement from the mounting flange to the inside edge of the teeth. |
