Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
So the rollers need enough clearance to roll but not to tight not to loose . Hmmmm

Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
Yes. When we adjusted hook rollers, we'd lay the boom straight out (sometimes with weight on it) to tilt house forward, then measure clearance at top of front rollers and at bottom of rear rollers. Since rollers are tapered, adding or removing shaft shims would push them toward or let them pull away from the center shaft, altering the clearance between roller and circle flange.

Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
Thank you.
I had some free time over the weekend and I was able to the roof hatch on the crane housing done. On a side note. I got the lathe running and bought a quick change tool post, so now all I need to get is some tooling and a drill chuck and center, and I will be able to start machining the swing ring. Shawn. |

Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
Usually I enlarge or reduce these drawings to fit my use. The design is pretty much the same throughout the line of these machines.
I may be able to dig a little deeper in my books and find more on those rollers. |

Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
A small bit of progress on the crane. I made this service hatch, I don't know what it's supposed access on the real machine but it should come in handy to access the winch motors or a battery.

Re: Bucyrus Erie crane truck
What color have you picked , and do you plan on making it look like new or an old tired machine like in that picture ?
