ScaleArt Oil Cooler
Hi,
Has anyone used the hydraulic oil cooler from ScaleART? If so did it make much of a difference to the hydraulic oil temperature compared with before it was plumbed. Photos of your installation so I can see your setup would be great. |

Re: ScaleArt Oil Cooler
Havn't used oilcooler myself soo far, but it's not a disadvantage if one do. With chineese hydraulics setup's in general , it's often used to reduce the max speed of the pump first of all, to say half speed, on the radio channel. Which helps reduce heat, and noice.

Re: ScaleArt Oil Cooler
Well I have to say I’m disappointed with the oil cooler as it was smaller than I expected, 25mm by 25mm. No where on ScaleART website says the cooler size other than it comes with 4mm OD by 2.5 ID but the problem comes from the size of the fittings that are M3 bolt size with the hole inside the bolt only 1.5mm ID, so it doesn’t flow enough and slows down the complete hydraulic system and because of the restriction it’s creates its own heat in the oil, not ideal for a cooler. Hopefully this helps someone before they decide to buy one.

Re: ScaleArt Oil Cooler
Volume is the best remedy in these small models to control heat. Plastic fuel cells for aircraft or make your own from brass sheet to fit the space you have. Stay out of direct sunlight.

Just to clarify, before would be the oil as it enters the pump and after is just the opposite. |

Re: ScaleArt Oil Cooler
Have you looked at any computer cpu coolers?
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Arctic-Co...&wl13=&veh=sem This one for example, many sizes and shapes out there. Do some online research. Cheers, Neil. |

It was plumbed on the return line to the tank, I assumed not to put anything before the pump as it requires the most amount of oil flow, maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong. As for pictures I’m not sure as yet how to add them from my iPad. |
