Re: Hostile's projects and various
Well 1st truck still is not finished but just picked up the 1st of 2 globeliners i had on order. The other should be here in a couple of weeks.
Starting my Mack ultraliner cement mixer build. Hardest part will be trying to make the grille out of brass. Will nees to go to the hobby store once i figure out the specifics. Question - whats the best way for me to make the mixer drum operate via remote? Thinking of trying out an aftermarket sound system rather than an mfu. Any advice would be amazingly helpful. |

Re: Hostile's projects and various
Aftermarket sound system, I have had good luck with the ESS1+
Make SURE it's the ESS1+, and NOT the ESS1! The ESS1+ has engine, brake, turbo, & horn sounds that are programmable. It doesn't do turn signal, or reverse beepers If you need turn signal sounds, the G.T. Power container unit is a good deal. It costs around $60.oo U.S.D.. Compare that to Tamiya's #300.oo U.S.D. for a MFU. I have one that I run on one of my trucks. For the money it's a decent setup. I wish it had the option to program my own sounds into it, as does the ESS1+. With that said, for the money it's still a good deal. |

Re: Hostile's projects and various
Hey skeet ess1+ sounds good. Dont need sounds for turn signals. On the driver needs to hear that. Not the whole world lol. Any ideas hows to get the mixer operational? That part is not my forte

Re: Hostile's projects and various
Sorry I can't be of help there. I'm an asphalt paving guy, & dirt relocation specialist. I've never messed with the mud trucking side of things.

Re: Hostile's projects and various
That looks like a fun project.
For the drum rotation why not reuse the stock drive gears, stick the pinion on a small slow gearmotor driven off either a cheap esc, or hacked servo board. If you use a standard size servo board the max speed could be set with resistors I saw a couple other builds where they used a short driveshaft mounted to a nipple coming off the big end to connect motor. I think the drums were strapped in with several bearings mounted as rollers.
