Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I made some good progress on the suspension. The front axle is ready, but the rears need more work. The springs are made from worn out hack saw blades. They are very flexible and only the teeth are hardened, so it is easy to cut them.

Really cool looking truck. Great progress so far. Curious it looks like the hubs are plastic? Is that for ease of machining or to save weight? Where do you find details and dimensions for a truck like this? Lastly will you use servo/actuator or hydraulic for dump box? Looking forward to your progress. Best regards, Bob |

I used plastic for the wheels, both because it is easy to machine and it is light. I don't have a lot of info on the truck, but there are enough pictures on the internet. I plan on using hydraulics the dump function. I will make the cylinders myself. That will be a nice challenge! Kerst |

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I made good progress with the cab and the hood. The difficulty is finding the right measurements, but I think I am close. It starts looking like a big mean truck!

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
If you come to the watch fob show at Lakeside Sand and Gravel this year,
You could get some from Larry's 1:1 truck. |

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
Small update on the Euc.
I didn’t have much time lately for a variety of reasons, including a bad cold that kept on coming back. But I managed to get the drive shafts done. I installed 2 temporary gear motors and that gave me the opportunity to test the truck and worked out some problems in the drive axles. Kerst |

That dual drive setup is slick.

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I did some work on the Euc. I installed a Mabuchi 555 12V DC Motor, which seems to have sufficient power for this truck. And I built a temporary reduction box, so that I can drive it around and get a sense of the speeds. later I will build the final gearbox.
I tested the Euc in the dirt and took some videos: https://youtu.be/V9AssoKzzBI https://youtu.be/zraLPbm_xeM Kerst |

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck
I tried a simple mechanism for the tipping. It is basically a geared motor with a small winch pulling a lever, which does the tipping. This is the first try and I managed to lift it with a 11 lbs load. Not bad. Now I can optimize the design and I am considering putting the motor in a different spot. the space behind the cab is perfect for the battery.
