I had to come back for another look. Good stuff! Where did you get your shackles, or did you make them? Dan

Thanks!
I bought the shackles from amazon, ha, ha! They are Steel D Shaped Shackles, 5/32" (4mm) thick, 5/16" (9mm) inside diameter.

I got inspired by this crane again and started to add the jib.
There is a fixed jib and a luffing jib available and they share many basic parts. So I started to make some of the parts that can be used for both. initially i will make the fixed jib and later the more complicated luffing jib.

Thank you for the kind remarks!

I made some good progress these past weeks.

Next is a 7 meter insert.

I'm really digging the booms, and the jib boom connection in a pretty slick set up

I decided to make the luffing jib as well and I am almost done. Only the pendants need to be made.

Awesome work, as usual! That's a lot of fitting and soldering and machining and patience and all the other stuff it takes to make a complicated system like a crane.

Finally I put it all together. Getting all the bits together took quite a bit of time and I had to make a few adjustments to the winch for the luffing jib.
yesterday was the day and it worked nicely. I am fairly pleased with the result and how easily the crane handled the luffer. It is testing time now and I am making a list of all the small adjustments that need to be made.

I am looking forward to the Cabin Fever Expo in January 2020. Then I can show it at full height! Ceilings are in the way at home.

Kerst, Just wondering how much weight you can lift safely, I'm making stuff to lift, don't wanna overcharge your lifting chart.

I managed to get the paint job done during the Thanksgiving break and put it all together for testing. There is one back stop missing.
Here it is fitted with the fixed jib:

And here the luffing jib:

Here it is lifting a test load of 14 lbs:

And here with only 7 lbs:

Simply stunning! I've got some 4-8 and 12lbs. Ready to lift. You might need a spreader 4" by 20"

Wow. Jaw droppingly awesome

Looks and performs amazing if you've got a 14lb load on the 1/24 crane!
