Default Accurate W900 Mirrors

Has anyone tried replicating the cab mounted mirrors on a Kenworth W900? I am trying to build an accurate replica of the 1984 KW that I owned and the door-mounted mirrors just don't look right to me. If I could find out what and where to get the stuff to make the arms from it would be great.

Shapways has some and there are some metal ones that were produced.

That is one of the reasons I bought Kenworth over Peterbilt.

Does no one have any experience trying to replicate the KW mirrors on here?

Also, does anyone have any ideas on how to replicate the lettering and pinstriping?

I'm not into trucks enough to really notice mirrors being specific styles.

For the Lettering and Pinstripes your best bet is probably photoshop them off existing pics and making some waterslide decals. Clear coat truck, apply decal, maybe melt with decal set, clear coat over.

I went to their site and their pinstripes are straight lines and either 45 or 90 degree curves which does me no good in recreating what was on my KW.

I got excited at first at their cool stuff until I realized it was all 1/24 or 1/25 scale.

I ment more like the 'testors decal paper' with an inkjet printer. I know it's only in white or clear, so it might not work well with the light stripe on dark body. Possibly some fine white gel pen work to lighten it up, but at that point you're almost back to free-handing it.

If you're ok with it not being the exact and perfect striping from the real truck, there are a bunch of "Model car decal pinstripe" sheets from a bunch of companies. Some are small due to 1/14 vs 1/24, but realistically lowriders, kustoms, and minitrucks tend to go BIG stripes, and your trucks pretty mild stripes. Do an image search.
I believe this is gopher decal

The KENWORTH hood badges, & the grill emblem, I can't remember if I bought mine form Garden trucking website, Semi Joe on Ebay, or if I got them from Hobby Concept website. I know I got them from one of those 3 places, & they look great on my KingHauler.

As far as finding a KW grill that's aluminum.................they're about as rare as rocking horse poop! There are some 3D prints available from Shapeways that look like they'd work.

Decals, Robert Blatter, in the CallyRC facebook group, he will custom make decals for you. He needs a good picture of the decal, & precise measurements you want the decals. He does FANTASTIC work with decals!

I don't know where you got the idea I needed a grill as I never said that. I already have the aluminum grill and KW emblem for it that I found on eBay. I also found the "Kenworth" for the side of the hood and sleeper on the Shapeways site I believe.

The problems I haven't solved yet are the cab-mounted mirrors and the lettering/pinstriping. I'm about ready to give up on the mirrors and just use the door-mounted mirrors that came in the kit.

This place will do your sign writing... but you live in Denver, surely there's a vinyl sign writing company locally to make whatever you want.

Can't find what you're looking for for mirrors, make them yourself... like this guy did. Go through his thread, he made lots of cool stuff out of brass for KW build.

I saw that after I bought mine. I like the look of the 7 bar grill but my truck had the stock 3 bar so the 7 bar that I bought has 4 too many. I thought about removing the 4 extra bars but with my luck, I would slip and ruin the grill so I'm going to leave it as is.
