Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
I ran across this Mercedes Benz 560SL and kinda liked it enough to bring it home, but i wasn't *really* feeling it at first.
Gold rims & grille aren't my style. Same with pastels, convertibles, and non-racecar product placement stickers. (Canada Dry hood logo?) Then a couple random videos made me rethink things a little. It's got a good base with room to grow, and i think i see what the car wants to become. https://youtu.be/6IJCFc_qkHw good to be a gangsta - Maroon mercades benz https://youtu.be/1igItsLogX0 subwoofer for RC Plus i've seen plenty of high-risers with candy company stickering. So it WILL be getting weird. But i think you'll like where it's actually going... Then tearing into it, i found out this has the strangest RC chassis i've ever run across! It's originally Differential thrust Front-wheel drive, with a spring for steering centering? We can fix it. Got some parts from far overseas https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32836767822.html 5w speaker, 4 ohm, 16 core https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32828553477.html 3w bluetooth amp Plus some of my Standard cheap fried rice electronics: this time a 20 amp esc, mg90s servo Riding round town in my droptop Benz, hitting switches in my black 64. ----- Could i get a title edit? "560SL" to "560 SEC" This is a W126 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC instead of a Mercedes-Benz 560 SL, because i don't understand cars with "robot names" no matter who makes them.

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
Copyright 1988 HIP YICK int'l. Made in thailand. 2100 license plate. Canada Dry logo on hood. Beyond that, no ideas about its history!
Anyway, while waiting on some parts, i noticed i had a couple old wimpy 40mm drivers from a dead BT speaker to play with for mockup. Wimpy drivers in the car, Long-travel drivers outside hooked to 3w amp & battery. Magnet size and suspension is definately different between sets! Mounting plan for the good ones looks something like this. Wire hookup off that amp is simple 6 wires, should be able to power it off BEC through spare RX port. 40mm speaker x 1/14 scale = 560mm. ÷ 25 = 22.4 inch subs. - I'm in your Jeep Grand Cherokee or Land Cruiser - When you're rolling through the hood you want to use a - Track like this all up in your eardrum - So check the E.Q. and let them speakers hum A "6-pack" nimh 1500mAh pack fits in the trunk. Servo and RX fit up by dash. Rx can hang out under package tray. Might have room for another small servo for something else pretty cool. 500 benz https://youtu.be/emBjBVv0vvk

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
You say you wanna get in my Benz?
Well, use me, use me! 'Cause you ain't that average groupie. Baby got back! Got a FWD diff-thrust car. Cosmo says that's phat? Well, i ain't down with that! This planes not turbo, I steer by servo. Put in a longer screw through a brass sevro bushing. Just ran a brass rod to the servo, maybe get fancy with a turnbuckle or something later? Motors are going to be wired together off 1 esc. Not sure if it's needing series or parallel wiring. Maybe some motor upgrades? I don't know yet. Might even get real fancy and delete a gearbox and make it a locked axle? Some room in the driveshaft tunnel for wire routing. Maybe i'm not doing an RC "sound kit" the right way. On the "3w" amp it can bump pretty hard, even without a sub box. But it's got me wondering about the "5w" capibility the cones claim. I probably shouldn't.

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
Ok guys, i'm sorry. Mistakes were made.
This appears to be a W126 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC instead of a Mercades-Benz 560 SL as i'd previously thought. I'm unable to edit titles, so you're going to have to learn to live with it. Mix-a-lot ride a Benz, boy quit smoking that rock

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
Thank you!
Slapped some grey paint in the interior. Pulled the hood sticker. Made the top, fwd, and bottom sides of a sub box. I'd like to flock it before it all gets mounted up & sealed. Also been wondering if i should keep it sealed, or make it a ported-box. Interior should detail up nicely. I'd been wanting to do illuminated dash with printed gauges, but these are already detailed enough to do some dry-brushing. Plus i'm not going to run lights. Gotta make some Door cards. Thinking the body needs a darker metallic, probably in either Green or Blue? Not sure what color folded convertible top to go with it? All the ladies and mens know everythings better with a mercedes benz

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
It went into paint to become a Mopar color i consider "Cherokee Green" due to its use on my XJ. This can of duplicolor "Forest Green Pearl" paint had been sitting around too long. It will need reworked a little and shot again.
Green for the Money! Gold for the Honeys! (Plus this green lookes mature enough to not look out of place on a Mercedes.) Also added (speed tape) aluminum rocker guards, wasn't feeling the black chassis rockers. Little more flash, and the car won't blend into the road. Riding in my benz with my 10 girlfriends, it goes Waugh Waugh

Re: Mercedes Benz 560SL convertible
Since ya followed the Merc build this far, i gotta introduce ya'll to the guy we built it for. My man, Jamal. He got real tired of people saying he looks kinda like Rashaan Salaam the football player, kept at it hard through college, and is a money-making player that runs a software company. Rollin' In my 5.0 With the rag-top down so my hair can blow The girlies on standby waving just to say hi “Did you stop?” No, I just drove by If you got a problem, yo i'll solve it
