Make sure you don't over tighten the tranny mounting screws, they strip out easily.

Steve I have no clue what it is I am looking at, but the mill work is awesome any how.

Great Job

P.S. I see a set of fenders in the back ground, I know someone that makes the proper mounts for them...

Looks good! I've been following along partly because I don't know much about Mack off-highway trucks and because it's so different.

I was curious how the tandem axles would be driven. Not trying to be nit-picky, but is this the way the axles will be oriented when they go in the truck? If I'm looking at them the way I think I am they may wind up with one spinning forward and the other backwards unless one is flipped upside down. The front axle ring gear will reverse the rotation of the jackshaft. You may already have that taken into account but I would hate to see it happen. Years ago, a couple guys from my area built a monster truck from surplus army truck parts and when they were ready to take it for a drive the axles turned opposite! I'm not sure if they ever got it driveable.

Steve, Do you ever sleep?? Seems like you are always making something besides all of the wheels you make. Old big machines are not all that bad. Most are built heavier than the new stuff which means you can do more before they break!! Keep up all of the good work!

As for the lathe , how many lil lathes take .25" off of 6061 t6 in a path ? my dad got a lil 7x10 clarke and said thats all he needed and didn't have a dino taking up space in the shop now he has me doing his stuff

I got more done will post tonight

Hope everything lines up ok in there Steve. That's definitely a strong setup if the pinion holds up. Do you have a link to the gears you are using?

Steve , here's the pinion http://store.rc4wd.com/HPI-Racing-Be...1-_p_1377.html

the rest I got off ebay same as what I have in the pan only I made the axle housing for the truck . Here's a listing http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-Savage-X-25-...item2eb3d51c69 Oh yes everything lines up thank gawd I didn't want to do it all over I still have to make the axle shafts . I may take the cups off the diffs and run the axle shaft right in . This what the cups look like http://cgi.ebay.com/HPI-86864-Differ...#ht_4874wt_872 they go into the spool and you slide a pin through the end then the bevel gear goes over top .

mike , your looking at the rear axle components . axle housing done on the lathe

thanks Clyde
