Loader Tires
I am re-building a Hanomag loader and wanted some new tires. At first I thought I would use the RC4WD Mil-spec tires but they were just a little small. I then ordered some Michelin 29.5-5R25 loader rims from Liebherrmodelle.de (apparently run by the same people as AFVmodel):
http://www.liebherrmodelle.de/shop/p...-5R25-XLD.html They are slightly larger at 137mm in diameter (versus 131mm for the Mil-Spec tires) and have a more proto-typical tread, at least for me because it is like the tread I used to see on log loaders when I worked wielding a chainsaw in the bush. Here are some photos comparing the two: You can order them hollow or full tire but even the hollow ones are significantly heavier than the RC4WD tires which is good if you want some weight in the tires. Liebherrmodelle.de have two versions of this tire on their website - this is the larger version. AFV only shows the smaller version (128mm diameter) on its website. It took about 3 weeks for them to be made (I assume by Barnhausen) and another 3 weeks for shipping (due to a hold up in customs). Richard Last edited by Vanisle; 12-14-2011 at 12:33 PM. |

Re: Loader Tires
No, I decided to buy the rims (to save time and because they are steel so will have more weight) and just make the hubs. Unfortunately, they forgot to ship the rims with the tires so they will be awhile to get here. In the meantime I have been (slowly) working on a pump. I have an UMS pump I am converting to belt drive and am going to try to make my own gear pump with slightly larger gears than the UMS pump. All in good time.

Re: Loader Tires
Here is a mock up photo with the Mil-Spec tires:
Since then I have completely torn the loader apart and sold the electrics, loader arms, side panels and screwdrives. Time to sneak back into the garage to work some more on the hydraulic pump/s. I don't know yet if my design will work but I hope to be able to test one in the next week or two. Richard |

The Michelin tires have a much smaller rim, approx 40mm diameter. Here are the ones I bought: http://www.liebherrmodelle.de/shop/p...s2-1-14-5.html Richard |

Re: Loader Tires
Unfortunately, no. I received the loader rims and have some pieces laid out on my work bench to start the axles ... but it's gonna be awhile. I will do a post in the construction section when I make some progress but that could be many months away.
