Default My R model Mack build

I received my Mack cabs in the mail a couple weeks ago. Going to build an old school tractor and the other I'm thinking of a couple of different things still.

I'm on the fence still if I'm going to buy a king hauler kit to be a donor or if I'm going to go complete scratch and buy everything individually. Most the tamiya parts are pretty toyish looking. I may be forced to run Tamiya rear ends since the impressive RC4WD top loaders are way to big for this scale. .

We will see which way this build goes.

Ah, that's pretty cool. Did this cab come from over seas? Are you thinking of scratch building the frame and other components, or did you mean you were just buying all the Tamiya parts separately? If you need an idea, maybe you should make one of the Macks into a pulling truck. I remember when I was 5 or 6 years old - the first truck pull I ever saw had a Mack in it. It's name was Mack Attack.

Ric at PMD had a nice looking R model cab and hood (resin cast) at Indy last year. But I didn't see interior, windshields or any chrome trim to go with it.

Thanks guys. The cabs I ordered are from Roadies guy in the UK.

What I ment about buying parts separately was the main parts I would use from the tamiya kit would be the front suspension. Which I already have. I will be ordering from Ric for a lot of the pieces and RC4WD.

The second truck I was thinking of doing a house mover (beam style not mobile home) or an old school tow truck.

Will be doing a lot of brass work as well for this build

Hi Maddie, glad to see your making a start on the mack's. The Mack would sit straight on the king hauler chassis it all depends on what look you are after, my mack was built on 23 inch rails and tri drive with a sratch built sleeper pod thats about 1 1/4 inches longer than the king. My guy in the uk is Kustom Ed on here.....Here's a photo of what it looks like on a king chassis for you :-)

Hope you have as much fun as i did biulding mine

When you order from Ric ask him about Tamiya rear axles, from time to time he does have axle sets in stock he just doesn't list them on his web site.

Thanks Travis. I was going to ask Ric the next time I talked to him if he had anything that would work. There are also aluminum rear ends on EBay for like $200 and change that look nice. So we will see.

I'm hoping Steve takes orders soon for those Daytons. I think those are the only wheels that truly suit these beautiful old Mack's. I'll have some pics up in the next little bit. Had some stuff come up that is taking priority right now.

He is a good guy to deal with. With out the bunk I paid about $350 USD for 2 cabs, dashs and mudflaps. They are very sturdy cabs.

Going to pull a few different things. gonna build a 7 axle float eventually and a Super B hopper bottom grain trailer.

I have a rolling chassis coming for it now so should have a pic or 2 up in a few weeks.
