Krupp 180GMT 1/20
I built this crane years ago and it took me a long time to finish and in a sense it was never finished. I painted it red, but I was never happy with the result and over the years I made lots of small repairs and alterations.
During the last day of the Cabin Fever Expo something broke and in order to repair it I needed to take the whole thing apart and then I decided to just do it and repaint it. It took me about 6 weeks of cleaning, sanding and re-finishing and here is the result. i also added dome more details. Before: And after: Kerst |

The actual repair took only 15 minutes, but i had to take the whole thing apart first. It gave me the chance to fix some other small details, but i had to promise myself not to do anything major, because I am always tempted to rebuild the whole thing and that would take me years. I have considered rebuilding most parts of the upper including the boom! Kerst |

Re: Krupp 180GMT 1/20
Hello Kerst,
The crane lookes very nice. I already saw a little movie of it when I was reading your buildreport from the Liebherr and watched some movies on Youtube. Do you have some more pictures of the crane, maybe when it was disassembled? I am currently drawing a Liebherr LTM1160 first generation (scale 1:14,5) that I want to build. Still have some issues whith the outriggers. They have to lift a lot of weight, approximately 40 kg without counterweight, and hold even more when I am operating. How did you make the outriggers, do they actually work and how much can they lift? BTW I got the tip for your buildreport on the Liebherr from Eef, who is a collegae if mine.

That crane is Bad A$$!!!! That must have taken a lot of calculating and trial and error building to get it right!!! Very cool and i love the new yellow paint!

Thanks , everybody for the encouragement and the kind words!
I have no pictures of the building process, just a few detail pictures. I will try to make some when I have a moment. Kerst |

Re: Krupp 180GMT 1/20
It looked incredible before, now it is just stunning! That is a one-of-a-kind crane! The yellow and black paint job is very classy, and makes it look ready to go to work!
What's next?

Re: Krupp 180GMT 1/20
Since I started experimenting with RC control for my truck I got the idea to do the same for the Krupp crane.
There is no space on the crane itself for the batteries and receiver, etc. I decided to build a counterweight trailer with a hidden space for the battery, speed control and receiver and of course for the counterweights. I already had most parts and it is going pretty quick. Here are some pictures of progress so far: Kerst |

Re: Krupp 180GMT 1/20
Very cool!!!
Are you going to rc all the functions, or just do like drive/steer and still have to hook up a breakout cable to deploy the rest? |
