Revamped a cozad extendable steerable 9 axle rail trailer
We got a very good deal on this trailer from a highly valued customer of ours and just finished revamping it. We completely went through this trailer from front to back repairing cracks, updating design, converting and rebuilding the axles with updated hubs and completely re-wiring and plumbing the entire trailer. The previous owners had a crew that extended this trailer too far and then loaded it with 100,000 lbs. It ended up breaking the trailer in half at the end of the rails. It needed a lot of work.
Here is how it looked to start And this is how she looks now Here is a good load for this trailer with the rails closed up Helps keep the height down...Thanks for looking! |

Re: Revamped a cozad extendable steerable 9 axle rail trailer
Hi, what´s the legal weight on this one in CA?
Is local CA law more restricted than in other states Dan (looks better with aluminum wheels than black ones) |

Re: Revamped a cozad extendable steerable 9 axle rail trailer
LOL...could make ourselves spend the money it would have cost to convert to aluminum wheels when the steel ones make just as much money. In CA you can get 60,000 on a 16 tired trunnion as this. On a tandem you can get 46,725 and on a steer you can get 22,000. The only other states we can get even close to these weights in are NV, AZ, and NM and TX. Max weight in CA comes out to about 160,000 lbs. worth of a load give or take a little

Re: Revamped a cozad extendable steerable 9 axle rail trailer
The front tower jeep (under the front of the deck ) has a power tower and so does the rear dolly. There is 2 hydraulic cylinders in each side by side. If you'd like Steve I will take a bunch of detailed pictures tomorrow and post them or send them to you how ever you wish. We have this one rail and and 3 other steerables with decks in them. Let m know buddy
