Really switching things up in the shop today. i bought my tanker trailer about 4yrs ago and at the time all I did to it was cat mudflaps and the company logo on the sides. Was planning to install motorized legs, some marker lights , SS Tronix light kit. I have all that stuff but the project never got started and has sat on the shelf since.
For once my procrastination has paid off! ![]() So it's time! Finally going to customize and upgrade the tanker trailer and get this old project off the to do list once and for all! ![]() ![]() Best part is, nothing to order and wait for. It's all been on a shelf for the last 3 1/2 yrs! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And I realized at the current exchange rate, there's a lot of cash been sitting on the shelf! Still have enough to do 2 trailers and one more truck someday. ![]() ![]() |

The tequila tanker is done! .....well, at least the lights and motorized legs are. The actual fluid hauling part will have to wait till a future winter build.
![]() ![]() I'm real happy with results. I wanted to keep it simple and subtle. No room for light bezels along the top so just went with small holes just large enough for the LED tip. 6/64 drill bit and the lighting is just right. When lights off you can barely even see the holes so, I like. Using a chunk of Coroplast I came up with a nice material to make a mounting plate for the SS Tronix gear. Slides in and out like a tray and also incorparated a way to secure the battery. Using a 3,000ma nimh battery is overkill but at least this way I should be good for the entire summer and it adds weight on the drives. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also added some back up lights and end markers on the stock bumper ![]() It's hard to take pics of this shiny tank but like I say, it's hard to see the holes when not lit up. ![]() |

Thanks guys. Means a lot to me coming from old dogs on the forum like you two
![]() ![]() I forgot to share some of the underside touches I added. I love the black rails in the tanker kit but hate all the silver shiny hardware it's bolted with so grabbed a brush and some flat black just to clean things up a bit. Of course I'd love to have a nice air bag suspension type set up but i rather work with what I got and sometimes a little lipstick and makeup can go along way. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
