Your 990 could probably lift my Mack up and put it into the back of an ADT..

I love Mack builds too! Are you using tamiya axles? I want to build my own Mack and like the way your truck looks.

The Mack has seen a lot of abuse in the last 2 years but, nothing has really been changed on it. I am now happy the way it is.

It has had 2 failures since it was rebuilt. 2 years ago at the National Pike and Steam show i kept overloading it and the cable snapped where attaches to the servo. I went to my local hunting & fishing store and got some 200+lb fishing line so, i think that problem is solved.

Then last year at the NP&S show i wanted to include all of the kids that were watching us run our vehicles so, i had them fill the Mack with rocks and i would haul them to the top of the dirt mound and dump them over the edge...well after doing that for probably 5 or 6 hours something in the drive-train started slipping...turned out i used an aluminum sleeve in between one of the bearings and shaft for the transfer case and the stress of hauling the rocks up the steep hill extruded the aluminum bushing out into a thin tube. So, all i had to do was make a brass bushing to replace it. I think that says a lot for how strong the tamiya axles are because (knock on wood) i haven't had any problems with them.

I enjoy stressing it until it breaks though because it gives me an excuse to work on it and improve it.

That is a great truck Scott, just for bragging rights have you thought about adding locking diffs?

Thanks. I did research how to make locking diffs but, the way it is now i replaced the diff shims with rubber discs that i made to pressure the spider gears and it works nice as a limited slip. When experimenting with locked axles the problem was it was hard to turn when the truck was fully loaded with dirt or rocks. With the limited slip setup the diffs slip more like an open diff when fully weighted.

Small haul I am doing a conversion on a mack right now and was wondering if you hinged your hood or not. The way you have the truck setup looks absolutely perfect! Hoping mine will turn out half as good as yours

Rusty, Thank You very much. It is not hinged because it would hit the large bumper. It is quite secure though sitting behind the bumper and having the stock bruder hood straps on.

I also added lights recently. If you skip to 1:40 mark it is easier to see the light setup.

Scott how is this truck holding up after all these years? Have you ever broke any of the drivetrain? Are your axles locked?

One of the Classic builds.
