Unfortunately it's time to get out of the gutter and back onto the work bench.... I took a couple days away from the truck but today I spent a little time on the trailer wheels. The wheels are made up of three pieces and pressed together...

Thanks for looking!

beatiful! do you have a way of presets or do you have to remeasure and align the mill for each part (where you make multiples of each, like the wheels)?

Reg those look great. Are you going to have wedges for them? Ed

cdm, My mill has a DRO on it which helps a lot but I used a rotary table to drill the holes and just eyeballed the rest.

Ed, These suckers are pressed in tight so no wedges. In fact one hub got stuck before it made it to where it needs to be. Now I have to try to press it out and take a little off. The trouble is, it wrecked the bead on the wheel. I guess it's a good thing I made 5 rims...so much for being ahead one when I start the lowbed.

Haha that's how I always operate! I just went to my Dads shop and used his 50 ton press. Worked like a charm. I was able to straighten the bead on the wheel too so I'm happy again. I just had to spend an extra hour on something that should have been finished yesterday.lol

The rims look really nice Reg. I guess I'm not the only who takes more steps backwards then forwards! Or maybe just enough to even things out. I should probably start making one extra of everything, like you, for those occasions where something goes wrong!

I think that I move forward every time I work on something it just takes at least a third longer than I figure it should to get it done! Nothing I do seems to go as planned but that's part of the fun?

I threw the KW on the scales and as it sits with no trailer it is 37lbs! I'm guessing that by the time the trailer is on it will be 50+.

I know that I don't even have a trailer and clearly the driver didn't check the tire pressure but I couldn't help myself... The rear tires still have the original foams and the logs are fresh out of the forest so they are quite heavy. I'm guessing between 80-100lbs.

I think its gonna look cool when its finished though...

80 to 100 pound load? Whoah! That's really crazy. Looks scale though! That much wood would keep a stove going till the morning. Your truck will probably be able to give you a ride, if you could sit on the trailer. I've always wanted to do that. Kind of like those 1/4 scale live steam locomotives.

I wouldn't try moving it with that much weight. Something would break in the driveline for sure! I'm hoping that the wood will dry out a lot by July when I need it for the show I'm attending. I wanted to pile it on the truck to see if I needed more wood. I think a couple more logs will do the trick!

Haha, They're more than a little flat Joe! Yes I would say the biggest log is about 7". The diff gears are around 3 to 1(2.92-1 to be exact). There's no way that those little gears would stand moving that much weight. I think the planetary drive would though and that's the scary part!

Oh, I think your gears will be fine... my tam trks will pull 80lbs without damage... what's important is a very smooooth esc with a light brake and gentle tx stick movement. No pop a wheelies with a load on !!!

What esc do you use in your truck Joe? I was thinking of using a Sabertooth and switching on the soft start like I have done on the swing in my Volvo but I haven't bought anything yet. The one that I was using(it got sick) is a Tazer and isn't very smooth with any weight on it. I used it in my Euc for some time but switched it out in favor of a Proboat esc. It is much smoother but I have had it go into protection mode once so it's probably not heavy duty enough for the 850.

Both the KH dump trk & white GL have used a Mtronic Viper Marine 15A for yrs! The green GL is using a 2x12 Sabertooth (the 2nd controller is for the hyd pump).

The Mtronics come from the UK, I tried to get some more Viper Marine 15A esc's a few yrs ago & even try their latest 20A version from Howes Hobby, but they wouldn't ship to Canada on a CC# order, insistance of a money order seemed ____? Anybody have a north american source b/c I'd like to get some more of these smoooth brushed esc's.
