Default Menck M90 german rope excavator 1:16

Hello,

here a video about my selfmade rope excavator. The scale is 1:16 and mostly used material is aluminum.

Great models! I enjoyed the videos. Do you have the build details for these models? Please post them if you do.

Hello all,

some pics of building the model:

the tracks:

I used the "Universalkette" bought by Conrad, cut them in the middle and soldered nuts. Stripes of polystyrol put them to the scale width.

the frame:

all made in aluminum. The slewing ring is from Leimbach, drive with little chaines between motors and the tracks.

cab:

drive for the winches also with little chaines.

Wolfgang,

On your dragline what transmitter style and how do you set it up?

What sticks perform each action?

Left stick center - no movement?
Left stick up - hoist up?

I am going to try using a DX6I on my Menck M251 conversion, wonder how to configure for ease of use and smooth operation .

Thank you for the videos of your projects!

Jim

Wolfgang,

One more question. I notice in your video a bit of slack in the ropes as you operate. Do you have trouble keeping the ropes on the pulleys? Do you do anything special to keep them in place, or try to operate without allowing slack?

I have a lot of trouble with this on my drag rope coming off the bottom pulley. I think part is because the small line (thread) is so light weight.

Thinking I may need to make some sort of cover or something over the pulley?

Hi Jim,

the dragline:

sticks in center= no movement

left stick right/left = turning
left stick forward/back = lift up and down the bucket or the clamshell bucket

right stick right/left = lift up and down the boom
right stick forward/back = drag rope for the bucket or close/open the clamshell

One channel is for switching two controllers (switcher ON/ON wit a servo) from the drums to the driving motors

the backhoe

sticks in center = no movements

left stick right/left = turning
left stick forward/back = lift up and down the boom

right stick right/left = close and open the bucket
right stick forward/back = pull the bucket to the excavator

One channel is for switching two controllers (switcher ON/ON wit a servo) from the drums to the driving motors

Best Regards and hope i could help you

Wolfgang

Hi Jim,

some rolleys are covered, all in the clamshell bucket, and the rolleys in the top of the boom

I have the same problem with slack in the ropes, to avoid this: excercice, excercice, excercice.........

After a time, its easy to operate with the dragline, also the clamshell. The most difficult is the backhoe. Reason: the german backhoes had tilting buckets, so you must operate with three drums in the same time

Best Regards
Wolfgang
