Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
update on the dump truck! With all fitting and electrical testing done its time for final assembly Upgraded the stock rear suspension to handle more weight with these,
also added a new punisher driveshaft and alloy trailing arms Now the wiring begins... my 3rd build and my first day cab and what a challenge it has been to make it all fit but so far so good As the layers of wire get laid out, things are all still going good trying to keep it neat, tidy and fit. If I plan on removing cab to replace the battery on a regular basis, its gotta be user friendly ! thanks for looking. Mario |

Mario that is thinking I really like this idea. But you better slow down and give your brain a rest, or you may have a meltdown. Great job buddy.

got some progress to report on the dump truck. thanks to 1985kenworth ( Dwayne) who posted pics of some air cleaner guards, I really liked the idea and thought I would add to this build. this truck is going to follow the look or theme Susans black pete. Black and chrome but a Kenworth. I think these will add a nice touch once the body is painted. I think I have the size, lines and angle correct? please let me know what ya think and the latest video showing all the goodies stuffed into a day cab and yet comes on and off easy enough! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tbGH...&feature=share thanks for looking, all comments and suggestions always welcome! mario |

A great way to improve stock suspension without breaking the bank and gives a infinite range of suspension strength depending on application. I admit they are not a scale looking shock but a great way to improve suspension strength! Oil filled and with adjustable spring tension works great. No modifying or extra hardware required to install. I've purchased from this guy many times and had absolutely no trouble. Arrives from Hong Kong in just over a week for me. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ALLOY-REAR-SH...item5889ffc43b Mario |

Thanks Big John. I think the guard turned out not bad and is close enough to capture the look I'm trying to capture.

Truck is coming along nicely Mario!! I like your hidden switch trick, was trying to use that step for a receiver but did not work for me, so I left it alone.

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Looks great Mario. What happens if the battery dies while the box is down? Is there a back up plan?

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Thanks for all your kind words and encouragement guys I appreciate it.
Yes Reg, I do have 2 backup plans actually. Both ESC's are cheap and don't have a lipo low voltage cutoff so to prevent doing any damage I bought a lipo low voltage audible alarm. As soon as I hear it chirp even once, I know it's time to raise the box a couple inches ( it doesn't take much to gain the room needed to clear the back cab plate) and replace the battery. The other plan is, you built this box with 4 screws to secure on the dumping mechanism. It fits so well and snug I'm only going to secure with the 2 in the bottom of the box and not reinstall the 2 on the front edge of it. So worst case scenario is I remove the box to be able to get the cab off. In hindsight, I guess I should have wired up a manual switch in the right side step and could have used a 9 volt battery in the fuel tank as a aux power source. But way too far into this build to do that now I'm sure the audible alarm will work fine. It's loud! You can't miss it when it goes off! Mario |

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!

Re: S&M Trucking open for bizz nizz !!!
Instead of taking the cab off to charge , solder another plug to the battery and tuck the plug out of the way underneath the cab, that way you just pull out the plug and plug in the charger .just make sure the Esc is off .I have done this on a few of my Toys that are difficult to access the battery

I blow a battery on the work bench, no problem. If I fry a battery while in the truck.... Big problem! Thanks for the input though. It all boils down to personal preference I guess. If I asked 20 guys about charging batteries in the truck, 10 would say not a problem and the other 10 would say don't do it I bet ya Mario |
