Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
Yes, I think that would be sweet! I may order one and try the metal track conversion in the near future. It definitely is a more detailed piece and it also provides another size option. The current one I am doing really is only about D6 size and fits nicely on a lowbed but that big one would provide a lot more pushing power!

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
You hit the nail right on the head John. I won't be trying to do anything with the ripper on the small Dozers. I will be adding a drawbar option and I want to put a winch on my own. The D10 has a lot more space to work with so it might be cool to have the ripper on.
I need help now!lol I work on this stuff 7 days a week and can't keep up. It's not that I am incredibly busy, just that everything takes way longer to build than I think it should because every piece is a "one of". With the prices I charge, most jobs generate $10-$15 dollars per hour after expenses so I don't think I can afford to hire anyone though....Well maybe Cooper's squirrel....lol |

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
Looking good Reg, as always!!!
Well, I hate to say it but you'll probably never find an exact match or a close enough matching yellow from any "ready made" paint. I've tried several myself trying to match the JD Dozer color with no luck. You might try a local auto paint supply store, they can color match most anything, but you might have to buy a quart minimum, which for you might work out for you if you have several models to paint. Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
Reg, next trip into town take the dozer to Home Depot. They have colour scanners and will match the Yellow perfectly. We did the same with parts from the CMP we're restoring and it worked great. They'll even make up a small tin for you to try it out!

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
That sounds like a great idea Rob! Thanks. I know John is on the right track too but I am not interested in painting this with multi-step automotive paint. For me, it would be too time consuming and expensive for a one-off type build. I was hoping that I could get the parts powder coated in a color that was close but it's not looking like an option either.
Thanks again for the help guys. |

When I went to the automotive store they made a color match rattle can for me while I waited . It cost me $12 cDN . Mike

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
RCP57-yellow is a difficult color to do because of the lack of pigment. I can't tell from the picture if the tint is off but you might try a sample pc. by laying down a coat of white then after that tacks over put on the yellow. The white will make it brighter.

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
That was at a automotive shop in ottawa called Hosie and Brown , they must have something like that on the island . The last time I was there was in 1983 and there was an amazing junkyard North of Victoria and of course the logging museum in Duncan but that's all I remember oh and big trees . Mike

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
Sweet! Thanks Mike. I was thinking that they might be the best bet because they have a lot of autobody stuff. I may try Lordco too because we "know a guy" there that gives killer discounts.
Thanks again for checking that out! It sounds like you need to refresh your memory of what the island looks like.... |

Re: 4 Hour Bruder Dozer
Well, a couple bodies of water and a different country is all that stands in your way! It's quite a ways for a day trip. It would be better if you had a couple days but it could be done in one I guess. Taking the Victoria Clipper from Seattle to Victoria would be the best bet next to flying but you would still be an hour away from my house.
