Hi guys, I´m finally able to get back to work with the grader after moving to a new house

I got the engine compartment bigger top piece done. The piece is curved half of it´s lenght, and I was not sure how it´s going to bend cause it´s 5 mm thick.
I did mill grooves in the underside in the area that should curve to help it bend. Then I band saw a wood block to the same curvature and place the aluminium piece between them. Next I put it to a hydraulic press and press the wood blocks together (plate between), but as I release the pressure the plate returned straight ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You don't need to make two dies. All you need is one. Take a piece of soft rubber or urethane (you can get different hardiness) Place the part on the rubber then ram the die. The rubber will conform to the die pressing the metal. This may take some practice on what hardness rubber but the end result will leave no marks on the aluminum piece. I have a long urethane die I use on my press brake that I bend painted aluminum sheet on and the die leaves no marks.
