Default DAF XF

Hi,

My black DAF XF which I have been playing with for a while now...

First a photo or two:

Anyways the parts list goes like this:
- Wedico DAF SC Cab
- Wedico 731 Profi Frame
- Wedico 789 and 788 Diffs
- Wedico 785 Gearbox
- + other small Wedico parts - ie. cardan sets(prop shafts), servo mounts etc
- Osswald Walking Beam Suspension
- Servonaut M20+ Speed controller + lighting controller
- Servonaut SMX - Sound module
- Servonaut AIR - infrared transmitter for trailer wiring
- Robbe Lighting Kit (not happy with this and I will change it to a set of LEDs)
- Spekrtrum/JR DSX 9 channel radio with 9303 receiver
- Futaba HD servo for steering
- 12V Lipo battery
- Charger for both the DX6 and the Lipo
- Alu rear wheels
- Front rims and tyres
- Sun Visor
- Fuel Tanks - I have a pair of STD medico ones, but they don't impress me...
- Scale art spare wheel and cab mount
- air tanks from Wedico

More changes to come:
- Correct the cab height with the scale art mount it is now sitting high at the back
- move the power switch to somewhere less obvious
- mount the front mud flaps, air tanks, fuel tank, battery, etc.
- change to LEDs
...
And of course use it!
Cheers,
AP

Looking great there buddy, I really like the DAF cab it looks great in black too.
I also really like the Scale-art spare wheel mount.

How do you find the Osswald Walking Beam ? It looks really great, I've already added it to my wants list for my new truck.

Just out of interest, what kind of run times do you get out of the Lipo ?

Default Re: DAF XF

A couple of parts finally arrived(1 Month shipping... By Air Freight)..

- 1 vertical exhaust
- 1 fuel tank - with mounting kit for servos - I will move the diff lock servo from between the frame rails
- 1 set of spring hangars/bolster(not sure what the correct term is) - to correct the tail high attitude
- battery box and air tanks
- smaller rotary beacons - to replace the oversize ones

The New exhaust is temporarily mounted - I need to work on the way it is sitting..

New spring hangars/bolster(not sure what the correct term is) also mounted... This took 5hrs to get the initial mounting done...
It now looks like:

Instead of:

For comparison here are the sping hangars:

Due to the offset difference the springs sit on the very outer of the plate on the diffs:

Thankfully I have the track extensions on so the wheels clear everything...
Just need to trim off some of the euro style mud guards to clear them.

Also the upper control arms were mounted on the hangars, for the osswald setup... These had to be moved to the chassis as the scale art hangars didn't have the mounts, and the mount point would have been too low...

Finally the lower control arms on the diffs needed to be swapped around to prevent the ball joints hitting the diff, as the new hangars have the center points higher up(I don't currently have a shot of this).

So on this truck I still have to mount the fuel tank, battery box, and potentially spare tire... Correct the exhaust, mud flaps and the rear cross member. Finally switch over the rotary beacons. This hopefully will be done over the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully the above is interesting...

Cheers,
AP
