I've used monokoate before, but since its intended for planes, it likes to stretch tight to cover wings, so i dont think it would adhere to the dips in the plastic, it would try and stretch over them.

Not a big deal, i have 2 or 3 different options for covering it.

Have a look at Walthers Model Trains "O" gauge or "G" gauge for car siding

Hmmm, another idea.

Try the mirror-coating for automobile glass. You may not need the ability to see thru it from the backside, but the reflective aspect to prevent others looking in might be what you could use.

I'm sure you could scavenge a scrap from a tinting shop to test it out, and if it works, buy a bigger section.

I just spoke to a local steel place, they can get me a whole sheet for $250 plus a few bucks to cut it. Massive price difference!

Would still end up with way too much material though, enough panels for six 53" trailers! Works out at about $50/pair which is great but buggered if id have a use for the rest

Coating styrene might be the only way.

Picked up a bit of styrene with the corrugated metal pattern on it on the way home. This is the 2mm pattern. They go up to 3.2mm, which i'd prefer i think.
Used some chrome tape on it, little bit of a pain to apply, but doable.

Kingbob,

I will have to find the website that a few of us went in together on and got some very close to the picture you posted. I want to say a 9" x 45" pc or two for trailers was $45 or so. I you go to the eastcoast mini truckers from there June show in 2011 or 2012 look for a black Pete with a stainless steel spread axle trailer and that has the sheets on it. I'll try and find a pic for you and the website.

This the one?

Looks about right. The sheets I need are 200x1150mm, but locally I can only get a 2400x1200 for about $300. Which does work out at about $50 for a pair, but stuffed if I'd have a use for the 5 pairs I'd have spare!
