Made some parts to cover the holes in the floor.

Trimmed and primed. Just gota mount them to the floor.

The only 3s batteries I could find for sale were to long to fit between the wheel wells. So I made a 3s 5500 mah lipo out of some saddle pack cells. Ill be concealing the battery with a tuffy box.

Been thinking of taking the TATRA apart and selling it, but like you, not really looking forward to it. Just not enough time.

Neat job covering the holes. May I ask what material you used for the one near the gear shift?

Lol, its a frankencover. Occasionally I come across things I buy that are packaged in vacuum formed styrene packaging. I always keep these. I found one that had a shape I liked so I based the cover off a peice I cut out of it. Then finished it off in styrene and 2 different types of filler. Ive decided I'm in for the new Tatra. Should have it by the end of the month.. Not sure what to do with the first one though....its still sitting on a shelf unfinished.

Congrats on the new Tatra! You could put version one on eBay ... Am sure someone will take it of your hands. Had people in EU interested in mine, but postage and insurance was a deal breaker.

Neat that you got that shape from some old packaging!

Thats kinda the same boat im in. Shipping from Canada is retarded. I really miss the US sometimes. Someone would have to want one really bad if Im to recoup my investment and over come the shipping charges.

Painted the covers I made. Im attaching the drive shaft tunnel with scale hardware and the transfer case cover is glued to the transmission tunnel.

Then tackled some wiring. This is going to be the hardest part of this build, especially when I get to the engine bay. Using boxed styrene as wire chases, and two sided tape to attach to the inner quarters.

I found some boxed styrene that fits inside the rockers as well. These have to carry the 6 led wires as well as one of the battery wires. It was a tight squeeze getting the wires fed through.

A look at the painted fender flares.

And the mess that is my work bench.....

I wasn't able to accomplish much today. But got a little bit done. Fixed something that was bugging me. Since I had the body tore down for wiring, I sprayed the front door pillars in body color. They were still in their black anodized glory, and I really felt it threw off the look whenever the doors are off or open.

I also wasn't happy with how the b-pillars looked from the inside. Too hollow.

So again I went to the boxed styrene to give the pillars some much needed "mass". They look somewhat structural now. Plus they serve as nice wire chases for the dome light.

Painted them body color. I have then glued in with some e6000. Keeping them clamped till the glue sets up good.
Got the other rear lights all ready to go as well.

Small update. Spent a few hrs tonight working on the dome light. Made a lens from some clear styrene.

Then I used more boxed styrene that fit snug into the top of the roll bar for a place to mount a switch and an led, as well as a wire chase.

I slid various sizes of styrene strip into the boxed tube and glued them in to lock everything in place.
Masked off where the lens will be.

Painted and glued on the lens.

Mounted into the roll bar.

Now I'm just left with a mountain of wiring.... The plan is to conceal as much as I can between the dash and firewall.

I exaggerate. Its just not one of the aspects of a build I enjoy all that much. The engine bay is going to be hard to conceal witing and make it look real. Not really looking forward to it. But I do have a couple ideas.

Some nice detail work on the dome light! ... And a cable salad that gives me an anxiety attack just looking at it

Once you finalise this build and take a picture of the jeep in a suitable setting it will be hard to see it is a 1:10 model!

Yeah wiring this is pretty much a pita. I dont want the engine bay to be balls of wires and electrical components like I see on these Jeeps elswhere. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a scale engine and opening hood.

If I take a photo of this thing finished in a good setting would it look like a 1:8 model I wonder?...

Oops ... a slip of the keyboard there ...

With you on the cable mess in the engine bay. Will be interesting to see your solution there!

One advantage of te 1:8 scale is that the receiver and ESC don't look too much out of proportion. What ESC are you using? Was thinking that one from Servonaut might be flat/small enough to disappear in the engine bay.

Ive got a Novak Eiger that Ive had laying around unused for a few years now. Its pretty small and can handle the recommended 3s lipo with an external bec. More importantly it has zero reverse delay. No need for drag brakes. You can see it in the last pic posted.

That Novak indeed looks small in an 1:8 scale model. Had missed it the first time I looked at the photos. As said before, will be interesting to see your solution. There is a lot going on in that motor compartment.

Put some more time in on this. More wiring... Ugh.... Racked my brain a bit to figure out how to mount the Heyok light controller. Great controllers, but a bit hard to mount in this type of build. Heres my attempt. Started with some styrene.

Then I made some more wire chases to feed the lighting wires up behind the dash.

Had to cut a notch out of the bottom of the dash to receive the wire chases.

While I was at it, I decided to change up how the dash mounts. Originally mounted with 2- m3 screws, but these are pretty much inaccessible after all the electronics are in. Seeing how the dash will need to come out in order to remove the body, due to some electronics being concealed there, and some plugs that will need to be disconnected, I swapped in some Tamiya body mounts instead. The pins can be pulled from underneath.

It mounts up perfect, nice and tight.

Can see the wire chases up into the dash.

Started to wire up the front lights.

And out of time for tonight.
