I always like to see what you have tacked together with that TIG welder. This rear has turned out very nice. You forgot to show us the internals. I want to see how you fitted the HPI gears in there.

I forgot to take pictures of the inside but, the center section is just held in place by the axles. Each axle has a spacer with a set screw and shim washers. This keeps the axles from moving in or out and also sets the backlash. The pinion is supported by 2 bearings and didn't require any shims. The truck deffinately turns better with an open diff but I think it will get stuck a lot easier now much like the real truck does! I drove it around with a cinder block in the back and it seemed to work fine so hopefully this holds up.

Thanks for the comments!

I decided that while I had the truck torn apart I should fix some things that have bothered me since I built it. The front axle was a little too wide and looked stupid so I narrowed it and made some changes to the steering linkage. The truck turns much nicer now with an open diff and the axle changes, especially while loaded. I had a little time this afternoon to do some work to the driveway too! http://youtu.be/tnBsfW1KDws http://youtu.be/jpXgxhdb5Vc http://youtu.be/eeoa2V85pRk http://youtu.be/x_cnZYT-NWA http://youtu.be/Q6stG3P5LAs http://youtu.be/JZF9R5_hNeA

Thanks for lookin

Oh yeah... I made new foams for the rear tires too!
