Re: 990 cat loader
yea but very rough , when we poured it had to be 1 of the hottest days the load came hot to begin with coupled with dry hot stones at 2 " rat slab it was all my dad and I could do to get it raked out . the ledge in the pic is half the base for the fireplace + a cap on the buttress wall. the ground here is tight close to your clays but put sand stone rocks in it . in the dry spell , it takes some time to scratch through with the 307 cat excavator I had . We hit ledge in the north east corner (straight back under the pumbing ) I'm just not sure I want to knowing whats under there . It'll sure be some model engineering fun

Re: 990 cat loader
I'm gonna have to build low pro mining equipment for my crawl space. At best, 18" is all I have at the high end. It would be a great project though. How heavy is the loader IHBuilder?

Re: 990 cat loader
OK official weight 46.6 lbs without the cab finished . I guessed about 40-50 lbs awhile back not to far off ( I think I pulled somethin ) I used to throw 50 lb seed, fertilizer, and lime bags up on a hydro seeder for years so I guess I got a feel for it
I decided to go through with the basement dig can't think of any logical place to store my coal unless I start another building I can just see the township beside , I got some new machines coming on line this year I need a good proving ground .

Re: 990 cat loader
What a beast! Are those standard sized servos in the cab, running the valves? Gives a really good feel for the size of this loader!

Re: 990 cat loader
Steve, no I like to keep the weight but I'm thinking of doing what Reg did with his KW .
I had the cab ready for paint last night before I hit the hay so I got Earl out for a $99.95 paint job , Now to see if I can get the best winders butcher to do the winders . well here she is

Re: 990 cat loader
on a side note : those who where @ cabin fever saw this roll down the side of the pile after Scott distracted me while working on top the high wall . Any how notice the FWD slant in the ROPs . I thought it look a little bit more then what it originally had So took a closer look , sure enough it bent on the roll over

Re: 990 cat loader
With the roll-over, you need to have the ROPS replaced in order to stay "legal". Somewhere, I saw a scale-sized OSHA/MSHA inspector lurking around, just waiting to nail you with a citation! But, you might be exempt since there is no operator in the cab.?.?
I really appreciate the self-made hydraulic components on this machine - great job! Ken

A bystander who knew MSHA rules commented to me that our haul roads needed a berm. Later we found that true when one of Smallhaul's dump trucks took a trip over the side LOL. |

Re: 990 cat loader
Steve, it's an amazing job you did! I'm looking to buy a such construction machine for a while, but you greatly inspired me, and now i'm seriously thinking about building a such machine like yours. I read through the whole thread but didn't find anything about wheels of that size. May i ask, where can we get them?

Re: 990 cat loader
Hi , Abel ,thank you The tires are from the tamiya mammoth dump truck which is no longer in production . Do to that they're getting hard to find . I have a mold drawn up ready to machine to make my own (when i get to it ) 90% of the machine is self made including the wheels .
