Thumbs up Re: KH Beam Hauler

Thank You, Nick. I have a good feeling about your project. I will Have your product Incorporated in my fleet. The original Tamiya axles are right, and if they get tuned tight when built, they will last a long time. I have axles with far more than three hundred hours on them, still running smooth. So let's have the two current Mercedes on the bench run your front axles.
I am looking forward to working with you. Nick.

I currently have 1 pinion out of 6 which jumps out of mesh, it's a different design to the other 5 on the 8x8 so not sure where it's from but will add a circlip or washer between the gear and bearing then full testing can commence!

Exclamation Re: KH Beam Hauler

The Mesh is extremely important on casted gears; There is no shortcut at that.
However, Tamiya does not make metal parts in the house. Therefore the gearbox has two different pressure angles on the gears, Old standard and new. Witch makes the gear to go down faster than it would with the same pressure angles. Now Japan is a monoculture, so the boss does not know that, and a new gearbox or axles will not be on the horizon for some time. But the work so I stick with them.

Lightbulb Re: KH Beam Hauler

Today I started designing the solution for the weakest part in the gearbox, Hope it will work as good as I hope.
