Apparently if you add 'a bunch' of weight to a donor rc car, then don't change gear ratios or motor, still leave the motor wired backwards to the Esc, and don't keep up on cycling your battery pack... it's just not gonna want to run in Forward when you finally do take it to an rc meet.

I finally pulled the motor pod back out and swapped polarity on the motor so now the higher amp side feeds driving forward. It probably really needs a higher torque motor, or better esc, or even just a resistor in series, but i'm probably not going to do that.
