Default Grossing 80000# blown steer tire

Here's what happens when your grossing 80000# and the drivers side steer tires blows. Pulling a pneumatic tanker full of concrete powder. Driver okay! Sad part most of the damage to tractor and trailer done by towing company trying to pull it out.

My "grossing 80,000" story thankfully ended much better this spring. My driver had been hauling liquid fertilizer I was streaming on corn from a river terminal where we load. 80 mile loaded trip down to this last 2 miles of gravel, as he was easing down it about 15 mph coming to the field to meet me the sidewall blew out! Of all the good luck to have! Ran if off the rim pulling over to the side so we wouldn't have the road completely blocked and so the tire guy could get at it to put a new one on. Only gave the fender a minor tweak, could have been so much worse...

Seeing you run a Case-IH HC sprayer, do you wear your seatbelt at all times?

I never did... till I saw what happened to a neighbor with a failed wheel bearing & the front wheel came off @15mph in the field... he always wore it & came out of it virtually unscathed.

What is this "seat belt" you speak of? I always wondered how rocky the ride could get in a "wheel loss" situation!

On the farm tractors without a belt, hold on to the wheel tight (especially those with the gear levers between the legs), learnt that one really early... Think slashing though 4ft high grass, at 10mph, bouncing along, then collecting a stump. Everything stops real quick... Brown and blue goolies only happens once(and is probably why I can't have kids)...

The newer ones are soo much better, no gear levers up the guts, so now you just end on your arse on the floor...
