Well Gee Marty,That's mighty thoughtful of you.Funny thing about the timing of you starting this thread.Just yesterday, pulled this baby out of a box & was trying to figure out what I should w/it.

Was toyin w/starting that long lost idea of oil rig. Then I come on here this mornin & ! Now that's scary! When did that old memory hit you?
Don't even tell me like 12:00 est yesterday. If so,or close, maybe your spoda be buildin this baby.
Enough of the telepathic stuff & on wit the buildin!
Turns out just happen to have what is needed to but this beast together. So hopefully this one won't cost a ton to bring to reality.
Last time I was gunna build this baby couldn't make up my mind on which cab to use. It was a toss up between ford & pete. But now that I look at this picture again, guess the pete would be the best.
Whatcha boys think on that cab topic?
Ok Marty,Now that the thread is started & the parts are out,WE have one little problem. I have no idea how big this baby is. By lookin at how small the dozer looks next to it,I'de say she has some girth to er.
So....!Marty,since we're partners in this build,I guess your part is the measurements???
I'm ready on my end!Other than my undies jammed in the crack of my butt,From the kick in the pants! Hows it lookin on your end???

Well now, guess I just got the ole shoe leather boost from behind right back, didn't I?

The memory came to me bout 9:30 last night, so there was a bit of a delay in the telepathic signal, guess the telepathy service is just as crappy as the cell service out here in North Dakota.

Anyhow, I don't have any info on that truck on hand, so I'll have to do some researchin on them measurements, ya kinda caught me with my pants down.

So what kinda measurements do WE need? Length, wheelbase, width, tire size, bed length, all of the above?

Let me know what kinda info ya need and i'll do what I can to help, since I opened my trap and stuck my foot in it.

AAWWWW! Now Marty! Here I thought you were all over this thing??
Figured those measurements were right on the tip of your tongue.
Now WE have the fire wood, gas & no matches????
As far as me comin up with the needed dimentions,I'de never seen one till you posted the pic of it. & have no clue what it's even called.
Never even seen one of these babies on swamp loggers!
& highly doubt I'll find any in good ole-NY.
So.......Marty,Looks like the load is on your shoulders for now!
Also,WE need to know if this thing is front wheel drive. By lookin at this pic,I would say it's only rear wheel drive. If it is front drive, now gotta git fancy w/the gearing between front & rear.See'ins on how the front & rear tires are different dia.HMMM,Looks like you picked a good one for OUR build. I'M IN! & yea! WE need as much info as you can git.
Also, does this thing dump or anything special like that?
Good thing today is labor day! It'll give you some time to research our project. Good luck! May the tapemeasure gods be w/you!

ill note that here these trucks rarely have live front axles. mostly rear wheel drive only. thats what cats are for

FGD It looks like you have a good start on this bed truck - you should do it. Mog is right, that is a Mullen truck and looks like a 360-380 WB C500 with planetaries. As mog noted, Camex is a great site for bed trucks; pickers and winch trucks too. As Stuff said, driven front axles in real life on bed trucks are rare but I guess chains and planetaries with push cats when needed gets the job done. I think I've seen one 8x8 on Camex in the last 5 years (never seen a 10x10 or 10x4). On an RC model though, definitely need front drive axles.

The great thing about Camex is that they have large photos. Not very prototypical but it could haul your new skidder around.

Now how in the world? Do they git away with haulin that baby on puplic roads all slopped full of mud like that?? Man!If I hauled one of my machines around lookin like that,I'de be in hotel green bar so fast.I wouldn't know what hit me! I had some mud fall of one of my tracks & a cop was behind me,he pulled me over so fast it wasn't even funny.& I had cleaned the tracks the best I could w/a shovel. It was like a hand full of dirt. You would of thought I dumped a 18yrd load in the street!
So after my full DOT spot check,& a good ole-a$$ chewin,he let me go.
Just a good thing I had 4 chains & binders on machine,or it would have been FINE city! Most of the lazy shyts around here, try to git away with only use'in two.If you get an unsecure load ticket here, your better off shootin the cop & makin a run for it,than waitin to see just how bad the judge is gunna wreck your life w/fines.
DOT up there in good ole-Canada must be a different animal than here in NY.
Stuff? is that a tractor that's hooked to the trailer in that pic?
FGD
BTW,Anyone seen pipeliner around???
