Ive been asked this a few times, and i can really only recommend what i know, and i use the Afinia h480 printers, they have been replaced now with the h400. They arent very main stream but are quality printers. They are around 600.00 i think. I like this place for their customer service and prices. www.octave.com/3d-printers/afinia-3d-printers.html?p=1

So as far as a decent printer goes, Afinia makes good stuff. I like mine which are over 5 years old now and still running day and night.

5 years of constant usage says all I need to know, they're a GOOD quality machine to still be running. I've had inkjet printers that didn't even last that long.

In the video, teh model makes the srceaching sounds like the REAL cats, with ALL METAL track, & track components. It this something you did with the sound system, or is it due to the metal track pins you've used? I LIKE the way it sounds realistic.

Yeah, your not the first person to mention that haha. Its just the track pins squeaking like you said. Cool little bonus I guess.

Would you consider selling the STL files for JUST the tracks? If not, would you consider making a set of tracks?

I've been doing some investment casting using 3d printed parts, I think those track links would be a great candidate for brass investment casting. Make the pin hole slightly undersized and drill it out as a secondary operation. How many links total?

Had a Firgili actuator blow a drive nut a few weeks back..



Actuonix has taken over now and were very helpful in getting me back together by sending me some replacements at no cost except shipping. Thanks Ian!

However didnt need the "special tool" to get the end cap back on.

"The actuator shaft is screwed onto a Delrin/Fiberglass composite drive nut. This nut can be broken by over rotating the actuator shaft if you remove or reinstall the shaft tip. See

I am looking at doing a Tonka bulldozer RC conversion and am considering using the Firgelli/Actuonix actuators. I am wanting to have a two way blade, both raise/lower and swivel left/right. The raise/lower would use two actuators moving in sync like your dozer, but the left/right would require the actuators to move inversely (left extend, right retract). Do you know of a way to do this?

Sorry for the late reply. I sold the dozer I was working on. The tracks were my biggest issue I was having. That coupled with my gear reduction drive motors constantly burning up, led me to get flustered with it. I sold it to a fellow in our local RC club. HE is slowly working on it. HOPEFULLY he can get it to function properly!
