Steve, can you share some info about the gear motors?
First: as i read in most of the gear motor specifications, if the output shaft is blocked, it can damage the gears. Let's assume, that the shaft is never blocked cause it have enough power to drive the big wheel, but what happens if you turn (left or right) while the machine is not moving, are the wheels turning as expected, or are they still and sliding on the floor? (hope you can understand what i mean).
Secondly can the wheels turned by hand (slowly ofcourse), or could this also damage the gears?
(the 2 questions are the same, i know)

I know this mostly depends on the gear ratio you're using, as i calculated, to get the max speed (1:1 -> 22 km/h, 1:14,5 -> 1,5 km/h), a max output of 50 rpm is needed. So i think, the best is a lower rmp motor as base to get the lowest gear ratio possible...

Abel , I didn't go with the 4 gear motor set up in the end . Even they where to flimsy for the size and weight Of the machine . I went with a differential set up which seems to be holding up quite well I don't have any experience on using a gear motor at each wheel yet

Hi again.

In the last 2 month, i collected a huge number of Cat blueprints, with aid of these documents, i built a 3D model in 1:14,5 with every little details - Some of the inside mechanics are still missing, but they will be done shortly.

Steve, before going further i will make a new thread for it, but if you don't mind, i share the results here: https://www.behance.net/wip/316985/659439

That's great way to make those pins!!! I've been thinking on how to do such. Sometime in future I'm going to use your idea and get rid of the c-clips I'm using on pins. I tried to make the flats undersized and press pins into but just not enough material to make tight enough and reliable. And loader looks great!!!

The pins came out nice and the loaders looking better all the time, but what I really like is the jig you made to mill the pins! Nice job! Sometimes the set ups harder than actually making the part.

Steve,

Nice detail!!! I agree, normally it takes longer to setup a part than run it.

I have some on order since Christmas from RCM which I think barnhausen makes them for RCM, not a werd yet . I tried Barnhausen directly with no reply . I was hoping to have them for this week end There was only 1 size I saw that was close .

Nice Can't wait to see it installed.

I checked the site from where you ordered the tires, but unfortunately i didn't find the right size (D 173mm, 75mm, inner D68mm). I will ask them if they are making custom size tires.
