Thanks very much Glenn. I think I have nearly addressed what Mario was referring to and it looks much better. I needed to sand that crud off but I was leery to do it because I couldn't remember how bad my metal work was underneath. Apparently it wasn't too bad as I was able to sand off almost all of the JB weld without finding any major imperfections in the metal. Once I had things looking close I tried making up a copper visor.

Oh, and are you suggesting that I put a driven front axle in this? The thought had crossed my mind but I don't want to spend the money for an axle.lol
Yep it needs a driven front axle and since you don't want to spend the money then spend the time, we all know that you got the skills to make your own.

. So true Kent!

Remember how much fun the 850 axles were Reg? .....oh, wait a minute. You DO remember, that's why you haven't made one already.

The scars are gone! Not sure what you were covering up in the first place?
Question: can you clear coat this to preserve the nice clean look? I know it's not humid in your neck of the woods but that copper is going to be tough to keep clean and shiny?

The scary part is I have enough scraps to make a drive axle for the front! It would be a Frankenstein type thing of course but it could be done. Much easier to press the buy button though as I don't see myself wanting to invest the effort. What is the best option for a front axle? I wouldn't mind having AWD but I think it will be an add-on later as money in the bank is more important than money blown on mini KW's at the moment.lol I could, and have been thinking about making my own reduction for this. Maybe when I do a shaft sticks out forward as well as to the rear just in case?

I don't know what I was hiding either Mario. The more I sanded at the JB Weld the more I was like WTF? Anyway. it looks better now.

Maybe I need to go this direction?

It won't pull it, that's a highway hauler & the last I saw, you don't have any paved roads.

Bobtails get around so much easier, quicker turnarounds.

Thanks blitzk. I do like the looks of this combo but Joe is 100% correct. It just wouldn't work in my play area. The roads are all gravel and fairly steep too! It would be stuck everywhere, not to mention that the roads aren't very smooth or flat so it would probably fall over while dumping. Even at the shows we attend we always end up making an offroad environment so it wouldn't work there either. I did have fun towing it around my shop floor yesterday though!

Hi Reg very nice work as usual but there is one thing wrong with your trailer it should be qe to be a quad axle so it distribures the weight better so you won't sink in on soft roads. Ed

Thanks Ed. The trailer is a customer project so I'm just building it the way I was asked to. If I built one for myself it would be a shorter trailer and only a tandem. You just don't see many tri or quad axle end dump trailers here. More and more dump trucks using a dolly and towing a short end dump instead of a pup though.

I shut down trailer manufacturing at 4:30pm yesterday and worked another 3 hours on this. Then I was back out in the shop early this morning before heading out on a material run to finish mounting the fuel tanks. There are a few more small details(tank, rad caps ect) but I think all of the big stuff is nearly complete for the body. Almost time to tear it down and clean it up real nice.

Thanks Wayne. Maybe I could get a trophy from the email you sent?lol

Mike, the tanks consist of two caps and half of a coupling soldered together. I turned each piece in the lathe to make a nice fit and then stuck them together. The tanks straps cover the little bit of solder on the seems.
