Default Vario 850d deere excavator rebuild

Well I have enough broken parts on this machine that I decided to completly disassemble the machine and rebuild it. I have already disassembled the machine and removed the electronics. I have replaced the radio and rx with a airtronics 10ch radio. It had a Polk's 8ch in it before. I have also replaced the esc's with tekin fxr's. It had three Schulze race-22re esc's in it. I am going to send out the bottom half out for powder coat next week. I replaced the electronics just because I know how to use the stuff I put in it, I don't have any info on the Schulze stuff so I just removed it. I will be posting pics as this project starts to take off. I will also be selling the Polk radio and esc's when I get it all up and running. Stay tuned for pics.

Did you buy the excavator used I assume? I really dig the FXR escs. Never have had one problem with them and they're such a small footprint.

yeah I bought it used. I got it for $7000 all set-up with a Radio. So I figure I can spend around $3000 on it and still be ahead of the game. Vario wanted $10000 for and fully built one and thats without a radio. I love the FXR's, they are the smallest 3s esc you can buy and they are cheap compared the other 3s esc's.

They handle being sealed up too. Most escs will overheat when put inside a sealed container. Glad you found a used one. Shame you're having trouble with it. Guess we can compare situations once mine arrives.

well its still in great shape for a used machine. Unless I tell someone, you would think it was new. The broken stuff is my fault, I tilted the machine and got ait in the system. Trying to get the air out it some how broke the gauge. Then when I got the air out I turned the pressure up to hi because of the non-working gauge , and blow the hydro line.

Heres some pics of how I have my electronics mounted up. I have tested it and it works great. I think I will be mounting two small fans to keep the castle esc and hydro motor cool. Each esc has its own 3s battery.

Looks good... but is there enough room for 4 x 3s batteries... wouldn't it be easier to have the tracks and slew on one battery and the pump on another?

Hi, Yes I can fit the three small 3s batteries behind the cab. I am going to try and get a 4s battery for the pump and mount it on the other side of the machine, where the stock battery location is. There is not enough room to mount two large batteries in the machine, so this is the only option. I am hoping that by running running each esc on their own small battery they will last long enough, also I hope by running 3s to each track motor, that they will have more power then the stock set-up, which sucks.

Well its all back together. I Love this thing. I run the hydro on its own 5500mah 60c 4s and three 3s 35c 1300mah's one for each drive motor and one for the spin motor. By running each drive motor on it's own 3s, they seem to have enought power now, but the tracks seem to bind-up. Need to do some trouble shooting of the "old" style drive system.

Lookin good. Mine is past due from Vario and I am anxiously awaiting it's delivery! Spliting up the panel detail with paint/marker looks good. Think I'll have to try that.

Definitely a nice piece of equipment !

Do you have the possibility to run it on an external power source ?

I do not run it on external power, I know some people run theirs off a 12v car battery.
