Not sure if you know about this motor, it was used for 1/5 car, just one will push speed up to 60 miles and I have 4 plus one giant motor in my excavator. It becomes super complex...I didn't use any gear reduction motor. I was a wrong decision I guess.

This is my first build...want to learn some experience for next one. Yours is much better than mine...it looks perfect. My supid excavator weights 50kg now after adding 5mm thickness SS304 boom. I have hard time to move this thing from living room to my little work shop...will see how it goes.

Let's keep in touch! and wishing you a very happy New Year!!
Kevin

Kevin, what is your cylinder bore size and the flow rate of your pump?
my 650 boom is from 1.5mm thickness, is more than enough to lift a child. as long as its had the right structure.
i know how u felt, its not a fun thing to do, moving the heavy machine around. i will have second thought now, if friends ask to bring it out for a play.

the machinist really keep his word, finish up all the parts before the holiday.
tempting to install it during the CNY holiday. sure will get nagging from my mom and gf, almost spend most of the time on the excavator even during festive holiday.

just in time send for black anodise.

So what closet are you building this beast in so your mom & gf don't catch you working during the holidays?

ooh, i got no closet that big. but i sneak into the working room at midnight where everyone sound asleep. but i have to gave a damm good explanation why i got the dark circles under the eyes.
i just can't left the parts lying around un-assemble, too tempting.

Not bad for only 8bar.

What's the weight of the model?

you were right...I need to buy a hydraulic trolley to move this heavy excavator.
hi kevin,
from the dimension you gave, i assume its a 20mm dia bore cyclinder, which same as mine. i am using this for the 650:

its an industrial pump. the flow rate for the pump its 0.2cc/rev and 0.1cc/rev. directly couple to a outer-run. it able to perform smoothly.
what do u think kevin? i can sell this to you as used parts for RM600 a pump attached together with outer-run as a set.

[while i just got a smaller pump, believe to be lower flow rate but able to deliver enough bar, run smaller motor for better energy efficient, but yet to full test it.]

I just spent some time looking through your blog and you have several very impressive builds. This excavator looks to be a top notch build as well. I have a couple of questions. I noticed in your dump trucks that you use the UMS hydraulic pump and valves. How are those holding up for you. I have heard mixed reviews, but have not heard anything lately about the durability of the UMS parts. What type of pump and valves do you plan to use on this excavator?

Thanks

the dump truck, i didn't post to this forum yet.
yes, i m using the UMS pump and valves for the dump truck project. the UMS did come with the "pressure over-loading cut off board" instead of regulator.
yup, no regulator.
when the cylinder extend to the max, pressure from the pump keep gaining while there no regulator to route the extra pressure back to tank. now where the "pressure over-loading cut off board" come in working with delay of 3 second to cut off.
about the valve, i had to change a better quality O-ring. as my 1st test, leakage from the valve, so does to the 2nd and 3rd set. i guess, the default O-ring is not the good quality type.
the pump, the sound of the motor is quit high pitch due to its brushless motor. therefore, its gain flow rate instantly. pressure as real as its stated max 10 bar, more than that, i have not yet to push it.
