D&MD Material Handling
Well I have been busy making a silo and dump pit system to handle several types of materials over the past year. My wonderful fiancé has helped a great deal as well. She had me make her a special truck and does like joining the fun now.
Over the next while I will post build pics and bring things up to date. We built several units and are proud of them. We were happy to unveil D&MD Material Handling at the Estevan Model Engineering Show this year. Thanks to Dean(Stuff) there are many great videos of all the show fun. I am the D (Diesel) in the company and my better half is the MD (Mrs. Diesel). As we develop the system updates will follow. |

Re: D&MD Material Handling
Right now it uses a vacume system. The silo is the vacume tank. I am going to be making a bucket elevator in time.

Re: D&MD Material Handling
We have some fantastic news here in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada. A few of us into the trucking and construction RC have found a location to make a long term home/construction site. Our local RC flying club is going to share its location for us to put up a building. Will take time but going to be great!!
ps finally getting to start on the bucket elevator in next week or so. |

Congrats on the new clubhouse news!
I've got friends and family out on the west coast and the next time I go, I must stop in Estevan on the way |

Thanks, I am sure that we would all make a fun day or two work out if you come through for a visit. Don't forget Joe is on the trail through this country as well. With enough warning I am sure we can set up a great time!

Re: D&MD Material Handling
No I have not gotten much going yet. We are still drumming up financial support to purchase our starter building. Once the little bit of money is in we will be able to install it very quick. I do have the installation donated to us from a local screw pile and driven pile company( Dart Services where I work).

Tracks are not going to be totally conventional. going to try something a bit different. Pictures will continue to arrive as I get things done.

Re: D&MD Material Handling
The drills are a real affordable solution to some challenges. These are bargain drills I have had good success using I'm my shop over the past few years. Yes they do burn up if abused a little quicker than the expensive drills but not much. The power output is very reasonable. Cheep package for motor, slip clutch if chosen to use, gear reduction. I have driven thousands of 4" deck screws with the same drills. Going into pine but still a hard tug for any drill. These drills put out 550 rpm no load (tested) so that gives me a theoretical of 34 rpm final drive with the way I have things for this build. The dozer will be fairly heavy as I am using mainly steel. They were chosen due to still being 12 volt drill which are becoming harder to find. I am hoping not to have to change up my battery set as all units I have use the similar size batteries. The excavator and this will use the bigger ones and trucks the smaller ones. I can still use any battery on any unit, all depends on how much run time I am wishing for.

Re: D&MD Material Handling
Well testing went well with the Tonka Dozer. Got it out and put it to work, as always a few minor glitches and a couple tinkers to get going well. Very happy with power and blade load-ability. Can push full and keep going with ease. Video to follow after the Estevan Model Engineering Show, I am not good at the video thing so will rely on Dean (Stuff) to get some captured.
