Greg, Good to see that you got a new build in progress, its been a while since I have been on here but I'm getting caught up on some full size and 1/2 scale projects and hope to soon get back on a articulated tractor project. The skidder looks great. It is strong for not having any hydraulics. I kept waiting for you to grab an bundle of logs and drag them over the dirt pile just to show how well it climbs.

How did you set up the mechanics of the grapple. It looks like it grabs the logs pretty firmly, but there doesnt appear to be a way to cheat and gain a lot of mechanical advantage. Just curious how you made it so strong.

Attached is the rest of the video of skidding the logs off the top of the hill. As well I will add a photo of the photo build in the future.. The grapple has a large servo installed with springs to save the servo from over stress.

Low budget! Right up my alley.

I wish more of these builds were low budget. Now, if there was only a low budget hydraulic pump/cylinder/valve solution....

Even the firgelli actuators are not cheap! I have not tried them yet, but pneumatic cylinders from clippard seem to be about the least expensive option for using hydraulics. Its been a while since I did a search on the forum, but has anyone come up with an affordable solution for this aspect of the hobby?
