Default My globeliner project

So I decided I would continue working on this project I started way back so I went to the local plastic house and got me a nice 4x8 sheet of .060 styrene took up pretty much the entire living room floor... note to self need a bigger house

This is what I am trying for except with a trailer on the back

I got the chassis out of storage and got to working on adding the FX-R esc and spektrum receiver figures i would run it off my M-11 for now

next came the idea how to make a trailer attach to the rear end of this thing it aint pretty but it works. Eventually Ill think of a cleaner way to build it and always open to suggestions

Here is what it looks with the truck and trailer side by side as well as all hooked up

Now that the truck is driving and ready for the body its time to whittle down soem of that big sheet of styrene

Here is the truck with modified globeliner cab and widened knight hauler roof

And this is what the trailer has transformed into

And this is the current state of where I am on the truck hope to get more done this week

Thanks. I have yet to see one done so figured I would give it a shot.

As far as color I really hope to get it smooth enough for a nice high gloss black. more then likely it will have a similar color scheme to my 65 bug with a two tone color with a brown on the skirts that I will be building to hide the battery and frame rails.

Here is a quick pic of the bug for color reference. Everyone I tell about the black and brown always things of a different color

Nice work, on what will be a very unique truck, when finished. I'm surprised no one else has posted a project like this yet!

well was able to get some building done last week as well as 3 more projects that got attention. Now that I am stuck in a hotel working out of town this week I can update a couple threads and start a few new ones.

I was able to get the side skirts I needed and got them mounted up as well as laid down some paint on the cab and front box still waiting on the time to finish up the trailer. Hopefully I will be back in town long enough to get it re assembled and get some work on the trailer next week.

I use 3 different types on the cab I used epoxy sculpt then I use squadron putty for the gaps then bondo spot and glazing putty for finishing. On the boxes it was regular bondo and spot putty

Almost reminds me of one of the Bavarian Transportation car haulers only in black. Truck and trailer are looking great can't wait to see the finished product.
