Default Brownsville,PA digging show in RC pictures

Scott and I had a great time moving some dirt last weekend at the show. Some of the spectators commented that all we need now is a dozer, loader, and road grader.

Great pics Steve. I had a really good time. It was nice and cool this year too.

Here are some videos:

RC Dirt mound

Riding around the show on Steve's military mule. The mule is an incredible machine. You can't see it in the video but, that is what I am riding on.

Running Sam's traxcavator. My friend Sam restored this machine himself and it is fun to run

Him running it. He has a 1/16 diescast model of this machine and might convert it to rc

I am learning how to operate a cable shovel on Sam's Bucyrus Erie 22-B. I didn't do too bad. I bumped the tracks once and dropped the stick a couple of times too hard because I didn't hit the brake soon enough but, I am getting better...

Nice pictures and videos. Looks like good fun for everyone. Smallhaul-in the 2nd video the machine on the right at 1:50 looks similiar to your unit cable hoe. Do you have any video of that machine working.

I didn't take any other video of it but, I took a bunch of pictures of it last year. I'll be sure to take video of it running next year though.

I am going to bug you next year to go Rod! I need something to load the Mack (my Unit machines take about 15 minutes to load it, lol), I had kids fill it with it rocks and then I would climb the hill and dump them out.

Great videos steve-looks like the 9W is working good. Although it seems to be digging good, just watching it work,I was thinking that maybe the bucket needs to be heavier--yes---no???

I don't think the bucket needs to be heavier. The dirt I moved in was wet and had tons of rocks mixed in. When we got there Thursday evening there was a D4 parked in our spot. I didn't feel like moving it and I wish I had because it rained pretty hard later that evening. We waited around till noon Friday to try to get some dry stuff but turned out it was too wet deep inside our pile. I had to blast the the material (With the help of a Ames Shovel)
When I have dry dirt the bucket will bury itself coming out full almost always. When digging out midway on the boom, the drag chains pull the bucket down some because of the hitch. On the video where I'm walking around, the kid operating it is trying to dig too much at once. If you keep the hoist chains just lifting the bucket and skim a layer off all the way from the bottom to the top, it works very nicely until you hit a rock.

Okay steve-now I get it-I saw the rocks but I didn't realize the dirt was wet. When I saw the bucket getting out of shape was probably when it was moving too fast (new operator in training). Actually the model works a lot like the full-size machines. I notice they struggle working in rocks. One other thing I see when watching the real draglines is the buckets with-1-drag chain don't seem to be as stable as the buckets with double drag chains but that's just my opinion. Looking forward to seeing the house metal on.
