Everything just tack welded. I will made all the extensions, and if all looks fine, I'll weld them completely.

I've been drawing the extension boom and I got most of the main parts drawn.
I know it's going to be challenging to route all the hydraulic lines to the cylinders

The normal round ones would act as bushings/bearings, I think, but I dont understand why some of them are oblong with that extra bolt in them.

Build is top quality as usual! I assume you are using a TIG to weld? If so what thickness is the steel and how many amps are you running?I just picked up a TIG and have lots to learn!

It all comes to that where they like the movement to happen. If the cylinder mounting pin is fixed to the boom, there's a bushing in cylinder where the rotation happens. With those freely floating pins, I guess there's bushings in all of the joints.

I use 2 mm steel on the column and the first boom. The first three telescopes are 1 mm and the rest I will made of 0,5 mm steel.
The Tig welder I have is this one, but an older modell :

I studied how they arrange the oil delivery to the extension cylinders on the full size crane, and I realized they come up with a clever solution.

The oil is run trough the piston rod to the next cylinder. There's apparently two holes running all the way inside the rod from each side of the piston and out of the the top of the rod. If you look closely at this picture you'll see what I mean. There's no rubber hoses, just hard lines.

Unfortunately that's not possible to accomplish in this scale, the rod is only 4 mm thick and over 150 mm long. It would have made everything so much tidier

I got the parts for the extension cylinders done. The o-ring grooves on the cap for the piston rod sealing were quite difficult to machine as the hole diameter is only 4 mm. My grooving tools minimum hole size was 4,1 mm, so I had to do some grinding to get it fit.
I also got the rest of the cylinder brackets machined.

Beautiful machining, that's coming along great! Touch them with a deburring tool and those cylinder parts are like jewlery.

Any luck on finding the sliding teflon tape, or does it look smooth enough you might not want some?

Post 49, i think the oval bushing plates on the real ones are set up to be either pin-retainers or anti-rotation locks. They usually do step cuts and different sized bushing holes if it's retaining. If it's rotation there's some offset between holes and pin diamater so it clocks the pin in the bore to slow down wear.
