I've always been interested in them, but to keep myself from having to many projects, I never gave in and bought one. I would have a short drive to water, and many times I just prefer to go in the yard and play. Might be different for those who live right on the water! They are some neat models. Especially those able to pull a row boat, and those with egg beater drives or thrusters!

My grandfather is an 80yr old former rc hobbyist. He still has like 3 giant rc boats and 2 smaller Chris crafts about 3ft long in his attic, a 5ft. Titanic, a 6.5ft freighter complete with containers, and battleship nj about 5ft long. All the boats are about 40+ years old and look great. One day I might pull them out and try to make em run again.

I think tug boats and work barges fall under construction.

Yes then this clean and orderly forum will look like the other forum.
Set up and someone threw a hand grenade in.

Why stop at tugs ( I like tugs)? How about sailboats and sailplanes?

Seriously, this forum is the best there is. I'm as old as dirt, been in r/c 40 years. I'v learned a good deal from the site and the members.

This hobby has endless builds to come. K.I.S.S. IMO, Joe

Yes, keep the tug boats! Crane's float on barge's, and don't forget those belly dump style barge's.

Apparently it was pretty cool, my dad used to yell me stories about how many people would stop and watch my grandfather, dad and his 3 lil bros. Run them in a park lake near there house. Pretty intricate for there day I guess. And they drew a big crowd everytime. Next time I'm at his house ill go in the attic and see if I cant get some pics. He lives a lil far from me so.....I'm all for a construction water craft/ heavy duty marine construction section.

I like to build fish boats from scratch as much as the other stuff and there certainly is the same craftsmanship involved but it isn't construction equipment that's for sure. Having said that though, I don't think it would kill the quality of this place if there was a spot for boats/ships. Someone posting pictures from a boat/ship build won't ruin the site it will only expand it but I suppose you can include too many things and end up losing sight of why this forum was created in the first place( TRUCKS and CONSTRUCTION)....

Sooo... can I post pics of my boat yet? Just kidding... Oh wait...I already have

Reg

The reflecting pool in Carmel, IN - as large as a football field, about 3 feet deep, clean water. The Indy Admirals use it regularly for their scale boats. The SubRegatta has been held there the past few years.
