The high gloss black base and spray chrome straight from the bottle sounds like this is the Alclad system.

I have used it. Not quite chrome but very close. I would buy the small bottle online (google) first and use gloss black for the base from a rattle can. Works best.

The 2 other post I put up are Hydro Chrome and from what I can see it looks real good they spray it on with a squirt bottle. Ed

I've used alclad, takes a bit of practice, but it does work. I'm still learning how to get it right, but on the upside, if you overdo the the top coat, it looks like old pitted aluminum
