G’day Mike (English Biker),
Old cigar boxes is one idea. But why not make them. Use brass sheet, brass tube for the female part of the hinge and rod for the pin that passes through the female tubes. The tubes need to be staggered between each side hinge plate.

Cheers

Paul

Don't think there is any such thing as "scale" hinges as they come in so many different sizes in the real world. Just have to find some that look right for your application. For brass hinges you might look at doll house suppliers. For plastic hinges the RC aircraft guys have a bunch of different types, also fairly easy to cut down to size.

I found some decent small hinges in brass on ebay, price was better than any dollhouse places I had been looking at. I don't know if they were solid brass, but I was able to solder them. Took some practice to not get the solder in the pivot pin. maybe solder paste or some other trick would help.
